I'd like the PWYW page to automatically grey out games that I already own. That would be nice!

SLP2000: I don't know, I think PWYW works fine for Humble Bundle, but it doesn't fit GOG.
I have to agree, also because with HIB the idea is that the major part of the money goes directly to the (indie) developers or to charity. With many GOG games we don't even know if the developers are still involved and I'm not sure a lot of people would like to pay more just to support GOG and AAA publishers. And selling 8 games for 0.99 cent - isn't that against what TET or someone from CDProjekt Red said about too high discounts on games? Besides, a lot of GOG games already are well-known and popular, and they already are cheap and discounted often, up to 60% or more.

To me this PWYW model has the bitter aftertaste of a clearance sale. And it will only lead to gamers accumulating more games in their backlog that they don't really have time or ambition to play and that they can't really appreciate, just because they were "cheap"... :/

Honestly I'm not big on these PWYW bundles here so far. I hope they don't continue to take the place of regular weekend promos for long.

edit: There is a weekend promo, somehow I missed it.

PWYW bundles can be combined with GOGmixes. People create their GOGmixes, others vote for them. At the end of each month, the GOGmix with the most votes is on a promo, and its creator receives all the games in it for free (or the monetary equivalent of any other games, if he/she already owns them all).

This is a great idea, although perhaps not the user getting them all for free simply because that'd encourage everyone to just make giant wishlists (although perhaps it could be limited in length or price).

Licurg: Personally, I'd prefer genre-specific bundles, but I don't think that's gonna happen...

FPS bundle now please
i love that GOG is doing these PWYW bundles.

i plan to buy them all.

it lets me try games that i would never buy individually at full retail price.

Unfortunately, GOGMixes are not actually supported features anymore. (I received a message about that.) They're still around, but you can't create any new ones. :(
I'll go against the grain and say that PWYW bundles aren't a good idea. Customer expectations increase, and suddenly 60% sales become not enough.

But they can do similar promos to previous ones where if you buy one game, it's 20% off, two games 30% off, etc. Not PWYW but it has a sort of tiered pricing that creates an incentive to buy more games while at the same time giving people a choice in what to buy. I say that since many people are whining that the best Interplay games aren't available in the lowest pricing tier.

ktchong: I also do not like both the "Pay What You Want" Bundles so far. It is not really "Pay What You Want" when the only game in the bundle that interests me is in the second or third tier that has a high minimum payment. It does not make sense for me to pay $35 just because I want a particular game out of the third tier.
Yeah, I totally agree, if GoG wants to go with a PWYW method they either need to provide better choice. What I mean is for the Interplay bundle you should have some sort of choice as to what games you want out of the tier you bought.

An RPG bundle would be fantabulous. Especially since I already own most of the high profile RPGs that'd be in the high tiers, so I could pick up some more obscure ones like Darklands for cheap.
I don't like bundles because normally I need to purchase many games which I don't want or already have because of the few I want. If this Activision PWYW promo were a normal one, I will grab some games, but in this case the ones I want are in the 2 top tiers and I don't want a lot of extra games to only get virtual dust in my shell, then I will not buy

And when the right holders of the games start writing GOG testy letters asking why they've decided to give away their games for a cent?

I mean, it's a cool idea, but I don't think it's feasible; the publishers have their rights, too.

(This is also the reason that every time GOG gives away a game for free, and people ask if they can get a different game for free if they already own the one, the answer is always no.)

Good idea

Though "receives all the games in it for free" is a bit overboard, if GOG would do this regularly
Ditch the name " Pay what you want "

And just call it

Interplay Bundle or whatever bundle is coming up for example
