I must say that I've tried MediaMonkey for a time and went back to Winamp. Even though I really don't like Winamp either.

Might give foobar a try in the future considering the praise in this thread.

I've been using Winamp for years, but I don't think it's really the best or anything. It's basically just a spruced-up version of Windows Media Player, with about as many features. iTunes is a huge resource hog, though, so I only use it when I'm actually synching stuff onto my iPod. That, and ripping CDs. For some reason Winamp won't let you encode into any useful format unless you give them money, which is just beyond strange to me.

I cannot recommend Foobar2000 enough.

Lightning-fast library search, tabbed playlists, small memory fingerprint, low CPU load, lots of configurable plug-ins, fully customisable interface (album art etc.), very stable.

If you want to play some special music formats such as .SID, .MOD, .XM, .S3M, .NSF, .MID, you name it, there is a plug-in for almost all of them.

Not to mention it is completely free. :)

No, but most of the Linux music players do try to emulate it or that style of UI. If you don't have a problem with mono, there's Banshee. I use Exhaile. They don't have all the functionality that foobar2000 does but they're not annoying.

FYI, Songbird on Linux is shit, and even more shit since they "dropped" support.

Clementine is the best player I ever found, for my purposes. I didn't care much for tracking listens or anything like that. But then, as Google Music rolled out, I just made the jump to it so that listening at work would never be a problem.
