One of my favorite games of all time and I scratched the CD :( I don't trust any of the "free" downloads out there and definitely wouldn't mind paying for it again.

I agree wholeheartedly: I've found myself checking for Whiplash every time I visit this site!

I still have the 3Dfx version of Fatal Racing on a CD (it came with my Orchid 3Dx Voodoo card back then), and I recently tried to get it to run 3D accelerated on the special DOSBox version (gulikoza's?) that is supposed to support Glide.

It worked, kinda, but two problems still:

- The joystick support was iffy, I couldn't get it to calibrate correctly, so I had to try to play it with keyboard only.

- the Glide emulation was very slow, so it ran at like 10 fps at best on a pretty beefy PC. Apparently there is some game specific problem with it:

http://www.si-gamer.net/gulikoza/glide.html But at least it seems it should probably be possible to play even the 3D accelerated version at some point on modern PCs. Anyway, I also set up an old Pentium retro-PC with my original Voodoo card, I should try sometime how well the game runs on it...

Yesterday I ran Fatal Racing (the 3Dfx accelerated version) on my oldest retro-PC, a Pentium-133 with 3Dfx Voodoo card (4MB).. It ran beautifully there, but I didn't play it much for now as my old flightstick was not connected to it. Too bad DOSBox still has some odd slowdown issues running the game 3D-accelerated.

Frankly, I have that P133 retro-PC around only for two games, otherwise I would probably dump it:

- Fatal Racing (3Dfx)

Slowdown and controller issues running that on modern PCs (DOSBox)

- Scorched Planet:

I'm unsure whether this runs on modern PCs with nGlide, but I remember the game was quite finicky already back in the day, e.g. unless you used some early Win9x Glide drivers with your Voodoo 1 card, the graphics would be messed up, like seen through a blue filter. I think there may have been some workaround for that (besides downgrading your drivers), e.g. copying old drivers into the game directory so that they would be used instead of the newer installed drivers.

I also have my Roland SCC-1 and CM-32L connected to that P133, but they don't see much use thanks to the Munt emulator, and BASSMIDI with better General MIDI soundfonts (even have SC-55 soundfonts for BASSMIDI: the best option for e.g. System Shock 1, Chromium revA soundfonts make e.g. the menu music of SS sound quite weird).

All these Interplay games and no Whiplash!! Grrr :(

Ah, Whiplash. I still have the original retail CD. Haven't tried to play it on my current system though.

Is this at all possible Gog? It's hard but possible to get it to run properly right now. I love how you guys make everything run so easily

Actually, yeah, I also hadn't realised until just now, how different Screamer is to Screamer 2, having only played Screamer 2, which is far more like Sega GT than these other 3 games...
