January to me means the LAST PREP month before my wife's birthday, my birthday and my wedding anniversary all kick in. Back to back for a whole month of stress! ;-)

January is called "Sichen" in Ukrainian. They say this name is derived from the word "Sicha". In ancient times, at this time of year people began to clear the areas of snags to sow there in the spring. This was called "Sicha".

January is usually coldest month of the year in the northern hemisphere, currently without snow here :(

DeMignon: In former times January and the first full moon of the year was called Ice Moon in my region. I think it's nice not to forget these things, therefore my first giveaway of the year is dedicated to the Ice Moon.
Excellent giveaway mate, particularly the idea behind it. I like keeping the old lore alive. We have a (probably better known) event called a Blue Moon over here, though its true meaning is perhaps more obscure.

Not in, I have far too many games to play already, but a big +1 one to you both!
