You know thats the great thing about this game and other adventure games like it, you can watch it like it was a movie or TV Series, heck I would think Grim Fandango would be better if it was that.

Back on the game, I feels kinda weird that I watched it instead of playing it oh well, I though it was really good almost like a Pixar film with more edge. Which is understandable because the whole game was basically pre rendered graphics....But what I do not understand is why so many of you guys consider it the "Perfect" adventure game ever, besides what makes Grim Fandango, with its characters and world, any better than anyother adventure game?

I don't think Grim Fandango was the perfect game, but it was one of the best adventure games that I've played. The thing is that it would be possible to have two games with an identical plot, but have one game with puzzles that are fun to figure out and one that's just awful. For me, Grim Fandango was right at the optimal level of difficulty where it was challenging to figure out, but not impeding. Add on to that a well-written plot with a great sense of humor and you've got a game that sets the bar high. If you watched someone play through the game, then the chances are that you also missed a lot of the dialogue options.

Oddly enough, I thought the one non-'perfect' thing about the game was the way it controls...

I liked it, actually, but inventory management was awful.

The fact that it is so hard to get makes people want to play it more. I have never played it but as a point and click player it is the holy grail.

I got lucky, my uncle had picked it up out of a bargain bin at a store and didn't even realized what a gem he had found until he started playing it. If my cousin hadn't been in the middle of playing it one time when I was visiting, I would have missed it completely.

Syberia, Blackwell, Last Crusade, Day of the Tentacle, the Trilby saga, Sam & Max... Or, heck, Beneath a Steel Sky...

Adventure games are the most nicely narration-driven games. All other games dilutes the stories, characters, dialogues, in, well, gameplay. In adventure games, they are very much the gameplay itself. It's a genre that is very much worth exploring.

Personally I can't stand the game, just felt so unrealistic.
