Do you think I can play this game with a 8600m GT graphics card? I know the minimum system requirements says no but maybe the minimum system requirments tell you what you need in order for smooth gameplay on medium settings.
I just ran Crysis on an 8600.

Did you overlock the 8600m GT? You are talking about an 8600m GT, right? The version for laptops.
Hopefully TW2 will be better optimised than the NWN2ish Aurora engine shite used for TW1. That crap(with everything set to max & 1920x1080) will barely peak 20FPS in most areas and maybe 24 FPS in indoor areas.......and drops to around 15-18 fps during cutscenes. And i've tried dropping settings but even so it took me dropping everything advanced visual-wise to LOW and 1280x1024 before the FPS peaked over 30 on average(still less for the cutscenes though.)

I wish maybe Gog could work their magic for other Gog titles to improve the code of TW1 when it comes here or afterwards or even maybe entice CDPR into a patch to fix the situation.

I get horrible performance from TW1 too unless I lower most of the settings. I am hoping I can do the same with the second game.

I would rather they FIX the crappy code maybe as fanservice for Goggers buying TW1 from Gog.
if the witcher 2 requires anything more than what nwn2 requires, then there is no way its going to run on my laptop
nwn2 with the lowest settings was running at 15fps :X hate ati mobility cards

NWN2 and TW1 use the same engine.....TW2 doesn't use it so it should be fine. The problem with TW1 using the NWN2 engine though is that it's buggy as hell, leading any game made with it to lag badly even on systems that can handle running the games using it on high settings.

Again TW2 uses the FO3 engine so it should be ok....I still wish they'd fix the buggy lag problems with running TW1 on high everything on a system with specs over and above the recommended though.

So if my computer can run Fallout 3, it can run The Witcher 2? Why did they list such high minimum requirements for The WItcher 2 then?

I dunno but it's the same engine with a few improvements. Possibly they use better resources so they upped the REQs, or they said better safe than sorry and overestimated?

I hope they decided it is better to be safe than sorry because hearing everyone talk about how amazing The Witcher 2 is when I can only play The Witcher 1 will make me want to cry. :P

actually CDPR created their own engine for TW2, as for the OPs question i can't answer, might work with low resolution and details on low.

TW1 isn't even a good yardstick as it uses a different engine and is buggy as hell.....it won't even run good on a Phenom II x4 P65 Black Edition and a Radeon HD 5770. :\
bad memories always come back when talked about games that dont run well.....gta 4 still runs at 8fps..........
