Why would anyone like to meet new people from other countries?
Especially if one knows you'll have at least one hobby in common?
In some silly place you'd probably want to see some day anyway?

Can't make it though.

lugum: this has been proposed before and i dont think it's gonna work.

alot of people have no money, and if they do, do they want to spend it on a short trip just to meet a bunch of strangers?
Yeah! Why not do this in Skype instead? In the past I have gone to some live meetings with people I knew only from the net, but they were usually in the same city, and never in another country.

And how do GOGgers recognize each other anyway in the cafe? I know, everyone uses some costume from the Monkey Island games!

Skype sounds like a cool idea, I'd be in if we did that.
Ireland is a bit offhand for me (too much work and my holidays are already planned), but if any of you are going to be in Lanzarote the next week, I can share a beer or two with you.

Gazoinks: How do I know you're not all a bunch of axe murderers, hmm? :p Mind you, I'm American and underage anyway...
I fail to see how that would prevent someone from axe-murdering you.
Everyone's spread across the world on this forum. I think it would be better to meet up with the GOG guys at ... PAX? (Like where they did the granny & cookies thing)
A few of us met for some civilised pints in London a couple of months ago, wasn't too bad!
I don't think that a pre-planned meet-up is the best idea simply because people would be unwilling to commit.
A better idea would be something that ne_zavarj suggested - meet for a nerdcon or something like that.
a gogirl meetup ?

Ah, see, newborn Americans are issued metal-deflecting force fields at birth, but they're taken away once we turn 18 (Mainly to avoid various mishaps around the workplace. It's quite a social faux pas to walk into an office and cause everyone's computers to fly out the windows).
The funny thing is, I live in Lübeck, so I could easily make it to Sweden, but Ireland is a bit far off the beaten track for me and I have precious little free time as it is.
If such a meeting would be to occur, i suggest it happen here in Romania. Hotels are pretty cheap, cigarettes have much lower taxes than in the west(1 pack of Kent 100s costs less than 4 dollars). Also, here in Romania beer and wine are legally considered "food" and not alcoholic beverages, so they have no vice tax, and are very cheap as well. You can get 2.5 L of grade A beer for about 5 lei, which is about 1.6$. Just adding to the discussion...
I always see these, but I never really attend them. I live in Ohio, though, and work constantly, so it's more of a matter of time off than money, to be brutally honest.

Dreamcast: I'm in Sweden and I have less money than you.
You have a job. I am a poor student with no friends.

You have more money than I do.

TeT and Cooke were at PAX Prime 2011, we (several GOGers) had a beer together with them and they gifted us the most popular game on GOG;)

Also, I had a cookie the next day.

They haven't said if they're coming this year or not, yet, but any GOGers going to 2012 PAX should definitely meet up next month.

I was unemployed, had no money, no income and still had to pay bills.

Now OTOH, I hear you fully support a meetup in August.
I like that date, we should pick it.
