I'd love to finally get a chance to check out Dungeon Keeper, one of those games I regret not buying when I had a computer old enough to run it and a cheap copy available.

KavazovAngel: Just torrent / warez it if you can't find it. If its out of print, it is out of print. Period. :p

hedwards: I'd rather have done that, but it's still of questionable legality in the US. And uploading would definitely put it squarely in the realm of illegal around here.
Not really illegal, since it is abandonware. I found two places online that had it and DKII as a download. DK2 runs fine under Win7.

As has been stated many times before, there isn't such a thing as abandonware. As long as the copyright holder hasn't explicitly made the game free-to-get (whether that's freeware, completely open, or whatnot), you do not have permission to get a copy without reimbursing them. If there's no way to reimburse them for the copy, you simply don't have permission to get a copy unless it's second hand.

Not that many people make a big deal out of it. You might compare the difference between going into an electronics store and stealing a high-def TV set and going into a candy store to shoplift a bubblegum.

I can't.
1. I have Vista which runs practically nothing.
2. My computer is too new to run it.
3. I have shit Vista.

Vista barely runs emulators let alone actual computer games. You should have seen the bumblefuck I had to go through just to play Spore.

Virtualize XP or 2000 or something older on it then. :) There is always a solution! :p

Skeleton0117: It would be the single most amazing thing in the history of everything in the world if GOG put Dungeon Keeper on here. Pretty Please?
Once you get a copy try playing it with KeeperFX.

*DosFreak pities the fools who don't have DK.

Andy_Panthro: The only two hints were:

It's one of the following:

Microsoft, EA, Lucasarts, Take2, Blizzard, Zenimax

and that they had over 20 games.

As far as I recall.

Hiddenshadows57: oh ok. then it's EA. can't be blizzard or take2. not enough games. can't be zenimax. not enough games. can't be microsoft or lucasarts. not enough games.

EA is the only publisher in that list that could feasibly field over 20 games(and I bet there won't be many sports titles either)

Edit: Didn't see the post about squeenix/eidos.

it could also plausibly be them too.

but since there's over 20 games. It's reasonably either EA or Squeenix.

I'm not sure if I'd rather have dungeon keeper and command and conquer now.. or get startopia. tomb raider, final fantasy, hitman etc.

tough.
Where dos it say all this I cn't find it on the site.

How do I do this?

If you have an old copy of XP / 98 / 2000 / whatever, make an image of the disc, you can use ImgBurn for that.

Then just download and install VMware Player (which is free), and make a virtual machine and mount the image to install the older OS.
Well, that will happen whenever EA signs on. Which, even though they are one of the potential publishers being brought into the magical world of GOG, I actually doubt it's them. Which is a pity, since they of all publishers have so many good old games to contribute from all the game companies they broke down and assimilated in the late 90s. You know, like the Ultima series, System Shock 2 (only the #1 most requested game on this site). Oh, and Dungeon Keeper and all the other bullfrog stuff.

Personally, I'm thinking its Eidos. Now that the source code has been found for the Dark Engine or whatever, we may be able to see re-releases of Thief 1 and 2 that actually work on modern systems without significant hoop jumping. And I guess we get Tomb Raider as well, since those games were also PC games in addition to being for the PS1. It's not necessarily what I would want, but I'm not going to complain.
a word of caution DO NOT BUY the steam version of DUNGEONS thinking its a remake of dk, its not and it sucks totally

110% agree with that statement, played the demo for 20 mins and uninstalled it, real shame really in its attempt to not be dk, it ended up being absolutely terrible just seemed more like a chore than fun to play
you know what I really want here on GoG?

Carmageddon
Just bought a used copy of DK and Deeper Dungeons in mint condition for 1€ at the flea market.

Vista runs like shit. And the way Spore runs. Not installing it. Is everyone on here as rude as you?
