I thought it required 5 persons downrepping a post for it to became a low rated one, but keeveek points that requires only 3 votes. However, that's not "the majority of active members here" as langurmonkey stated in his OP.

Personally, I thinks it's sad downrepping a person just because one don't agree with his opinion. :(

Well, on this computer with it's 1366x768 display I wouldn't want it much larger. But, yeah, it really should expand. Also, I like the indentation on the quotes.
If we really want to know, we could probably just down rep the OP's posts and see how many until they disappear. :-P

But yeah, I think 3 is a reasonable number, provided people aren't using forum multis.

You can see if your own posts are "low rated," just like with anyone else's. At least, that's how I remember it being. It's been a few years since I saw a post of mine get downrepped.

All I really got out of that topic was that the OP wants to be free to make ridiculous and/or rude/offensive /condescending comments about others, but then he throws a tantrum when a few people "downrep" him.

Prior to that topic, I had no opinion of said poster whatsoever. If he wants to spend his time picking fights on the internet, I would hope that gog isn't the best place to do so.

Okay final thing and then out. Again I could be misunderstanding your position (and entirely detailed in your posts but rather what you seem to actually mean):

You seem demanding that everyone have a thick skin to hear a minority or offensive opinion but then think those expressing said opinion shouldn't have to have the same think skin.

Anyone can be an insensitive dick, as long as they're trying to "say something" and shouldn't have to hear anything back.

I get freedom of expression, trust me I do. But those +/- buttons are also expression, they are a different form thereof but expression nonetheless. You find them offensive, the irony in this is that you have been defending people expressing views, even offensively (or perhaps especially the offensive ones). You should be all for this.

I didn't downrep you. I only downrep spam. The biggest punishment for a moronic post is indeed letting the world see it, in my mind.

If people were replying to you, they were trying to communicate with you. The only people who have problems with rep are new folks who come in and demand everyone act as they think they should or people who are consistently nasty. You can't help but have 100s of rep after a year or two posting here. The community was here already, either be a part of it or don't, that's your choice. It's not your choice to change it (which I think you've gathered).

But you know, this is the internet, there are a few mischievous trolls, even here. And you so obviously got trolled, bud, not by people who were trying to communicate with you, but by one or two folks with a few sock puppets that saw you were being oversensitive and responded by kicking you.

And now you're setting yourself up again to be another woe-is-me target. Leave or stay, you might want to think on that last sentence a bit, it'll probably make the internet a more fun place for you in the future.
