as for the monkey taking sunglasses, as far as i know monkey see monkey do, get another sunglass form somewhere if you can , show the monkey you are thowing it and if lucky he will throw the one he has, case closed

I believe it's better to be sure the recipient can handle it if you choose to take the harsh approach. Harshness can be effective, but it can also be harmful.

If langurmonkey has history of drama over inconsequential issues (I haven't been around longer enough to know), then perhaps a harsh response is appropriate, but because he has a legitimate concern, starting with the harsh approach is out of place.

I don't know you, man, and I don't downrep anyone here unless they curse a lot...

I don't think it's an active community. People who downrep are usually people who don't have anything interesting to say.

I don't know how they see it in their heads "he said that downrepping is bullying, so I will downrep every post he made, no matter what he said to show him he's wrong" ? How does that make any sense whatsoever?

People who think downrepping is a valid way of expressing their opinions have to be very sad in their lives.

As you've said , the rep counter is not the important factor here - it's the "low rated" and hiding posts functionality that really is similar to bullying. Lately, if you say one thing that people disagree with, you will see every post of yours in the same thread downrepped. Feels like ostracism for me.

And since it takes 3 negative votes to hide someone's post, I believe it's a small grup of people, who want to feel better about themselves by burying other people's posts.

I turned off the hide posts functionality in forums long ago, because hidden posts are usually the ones worth reading.

Well, I uprep your every downrepped post for a long time now, because some people think "it's cool to hate Roman5", which I find pretty childish. Like in primary school, when a group of kids pick one to bully.
