I realized something about this forum after seeing most of my posts down reped here.

That the majority of active members here do not like my beliefs, my personality, my way of looking at things and everything else about me. This is now clear. So my thoughts are not really welcome here. It is pointless for me to continue sharing my thoughts here. I don't get off on offending people. I also have nothing to gain from seeing my posts down reped all the time and people trolling me or arguing with me. That is no fun. So I'm not going to be active here anymore. For me, this place is not a community but a battleground where I'm constantly taking machine down rep gun fire because it seems a lot of people see me as the enemy. So in the future, I will just read interesting threads and enter giveaways, that is it. No more sharing my thoughts. This is the last time. Those of you who dislike me or hate me, you now have a langurmonkey ignore feature.

Well, you are a monkey with a laptop. Monkeys are cute but they can be annoying too.

I once heard a story about a monkey who stole someone's sunglasses from their head. Now I am always careful about my sunglasses when I am near monkeys. I wouldn't know what to say to the monkey to convince him/her to give me my sunglasses back.

I wouldn't like to have to go to the sunglasses place and tell the sales person that the reason I was buying a new pair of sunglasses was because a monkey (langur or otherwise) had taken them right from off of my head, even though I had once heard a story about that happening to someone and hadn't properly protected myself.

I understand that you got upset, but try not to mind. I think most of the discussion and actions in that thread were driven by temporary negative emotions. The downvoters were probably upset as well.

FWIW (since I participated in that thread, and replied to some of your posts), I have no problem with you or your opinions. I may not share all of them, but then I don't need to. And I didn't downrep you either.

I also haven't noticed that you're being targeted in particular on the forum in general, but then I'm not on the receiving end, and so not paying particular attention to it either.

As I was going through that thread, I've been up rating any low rated post that I couldn't see why it had been low rated, as well as up rating those posts that made good points.

I had asked near the start of the thread how they could tell the difference between strongly disliking what someone said and down rating done regardless of the post itself, and now I think the answer to that question has been clearly demonstrated. It's a shame that the system has been abused, but I think that it represents a problem with a few people rather than the majority of active people.

Nope, not true. You only need a minority of people to smack that - button to get low rated posts. It seems a few forum members are anonymously downrepping certain people recently.

Wouldn't it be better to just try and express yourself in a less offensive manner? I've gotten in plenty of arguments on this forum, hold plenty of minority views, have said plenty of stupid stuff, and have a personality that I'm sure plenty of people find teeth-grindingly irritating. Yet I've only had maybe 1 or 2 posts " go red." People only see someone as "the enemy" if they make themselves into the enemy, either by creating a legacy of posting useless or offensive content, or by expressing controversial opinions in an antagonistic manner. Don't just leave, ask yourself if there's anything you can change to remedy the situation.

I dont down rep unless its some racist/bigoted etc remark, I had a look at your link, but couldnt see anything offensive in your posts, however they were all edited, so I dont know if they were offensive and edited in hindsight.

At least your rep is in the plus, I have seen peoples rep get massacared into negative figures due to some click happy forum users.

Its a shame you are leaving the forum due to your perception of the users, but I'm pretty sure only a tiny minority of people here get all excited when the see that minus rep button and start clicking, but anonymity and the internet kinda brings out the asshole in people, so I would suggest you chill out and dont take it so seriously, its "rep" on a game forum, sure, people may judge your participation in a discussion or a giveaway negatively due to rep, but its not the end of the world.

I think this inconsiderate post is much more deserving of negative rep than anything langurmonkey said in the other thread.

Mocking the pretend drama no one cares about is not inconsiderate. Or if it is, it's the good kind.
