why even have a rep feature? what's the point? GOG staff should just do away with it. i've been to plenty of forums that don't have such a rating feature, and i've never missed it.

I think the first times I was ever downrepped, it was because I was pointing out how entirely pointless the rep is.

Well, many people are trading games on this forum, and the rep feature makes it easier to avoid being scammed...

For some reason this cries out to be an internet meme.

but rep isn't directly tied to trades. it reflects general forum acceptance based on matters of opinion. for example, anybody posting in a positive way about Steam will get downrepped. it's a fact. but you can still be an honest trader, so the rep feature is useless in that regard.

Yes, but it makes easier to distinguish between somebody's real account and a fake acount made by scammer

with rep system, it's easier to tell which one is real. And yes, there were scammers faking accounts of known GOGers.

OK, then. i don't actually trade so i wouldn't know. but i kinda doubt this happens often enough to require the feature.

You know being lonely is the hardest fucking thing in the world, but conversely, trying too hard to fix it can compound the problem too. MOST people are not born leaders, we're not all particularly articulate, just take your own advise and be yourself, if you get your ass kicked in forums for being an obnoxious prick from time to time, learn from it but don't worry about it, we've all been there.

It happened enough times for GOG to take a stand and implement the new feature where you now can see the rep and join date of people who message you.

In my experience, being articulate is tough, because people think i'm being smug/opinionated when i don't intend to be.

Still, for this forum i have had some hard times here and there, but with my rep (even though it doesn't mean much) it is reasonable. I must be acceptable enough.

And considering how fast GOG is usually with features, that was lightning fast.

Yeah there is a fine line between giving your opinion and offering your opinion that I often don't get right too. Lets just put it down to that British Stiff Upper Lip shall we?
