Isn't it better, for any game, to wait until after the game releases so you can read what other people are saying and read some reviews? What advantage is there to preordering other than that you might be able to play it a little sooner?

Anyway, I checked out the new JP game. It didn't look like it would be that fun, but I hope it is! Report back and let us know if you liked it.
I don't think it's a bad idea.

Telltale has always made great games, IMO. I think it's a safe bet.
As long as George Lucas did not do any scripting work with it you should be fine :)
The videos for it look okay at best. It could be a good game, it's just one I'd probably pick up for 20 bucks six months after launch. I see no reason to pay full price for a game like that.

If that's THE GAME you've been looking forward to this year, though, know yourself out.
Never preordered ANYTHING. It is ALWAYS a bad idea.

The exception being some indies which finance their development with preorder money and without it they may never be finished.

Otherwise, I have to agree. Preorders are good for the publisher, not for you. There is no rational reason whatsoever to preorder a non-indie title, and the publishers know it, which is why the concept of preorder bonuses was created.
It's really interesting to see what Telltale will make with this franchise. When I heard about Jurassic Park, Back in the Future and Kings Quest I was really surprised. On the other side, they did a great job with the other franchises (Monkey Island, Sam&Max, Wallace&Gromit), so the decision makes sense. More interesting for me is how what they will do with the Kings Quest series.
Never ever doubted Telltale, haven't regretted it yet.

Granted, I did not get BFFT for personal reasons, which seems to have come out a wreck. But everything else - priceless.
Telltale Game = check
Jurassic Park = check

can't see how you can go wrong from there :D
Good idea? I'm going to guess "no". That said, I'll certainly be all over it myself if it's any good.
I ain't touching this one till I hear feedback after its released.
I pre-ordered ToMI and I preordered S&M S3 but

1. experience has taught me that Telltale have really good sales at their own store over christmas and so on, and
2. their games seem to be getting easier and easier.

That and the fact that indie games generally won't cost more than $15. I don't know about any Jurassic Park game, but I'm betting the pre-order costs $40-$60?

It looked like a Heavy Rain clone in way more ugly looking... and given that, for me, the only "good" thing about HR was it's graphics it's definitely not a good thing.

That and the fact that, in my opinion of course, back to the Future was pretty lame (And I am both a BTTF and Telltale games fan), I will maybe try JP someday if they release a free episode but I doubt I will ever buy it.
