I didn't really like it either, a friend of mine kept bugging me to play with him. But it felt more like work than playing. I did love terraria though, never bothered to build anything fancy, just went for the bosses.
I've been playing for something like 8 months now and I still love it. It has so many "modes" of play for me... Exploring, building, redstone machines, farming, cave-crawling, collecting certain resources... it's got all of that.
I totally forgot about it.

Initially it was interesting, and I added a mod to make it look a little better, but quickly got tired of it.

For me, it wasn't so much a game as just an engine to create things, and I'm not often in the mood for that.
my kids love it still, I never played it myself, too much of a gfx whore I guess :)
Yeah, the lack of direction is killing the game, kinda sad.
I'd say try it with the Better Than Wolves mod, it's very close to the vanilla MC feel, yet adds direction and actual challenge. With every new version of MC i'm more and more interested in what the next version of BTW will bring.
The title is..well,..its nice.

Ultimatum: The title is..well,..its nice.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Wow, and I thought I was alone in thinking minecraft is a bit overated.

I haven't played minecraft much, I only played it on my ex's computer and even had it installed on my computer for a while before I had to reinstall the OS.

It was fun for a while but I found it too repetitive. Its more fun when you are playing with someone else. Its not that it is a bad game and I do like how much freedom I have to change the world and how mod friendly the game is.

I don't know it just feels like the game needs a little something more. The constant mining for materials gets old, on the other hand it could be just not my cup of tea.

Does anyone know how much it costs? My daughter has requested it for Christmas, but when I go to the minecraft website there's no indicator of how much it costs. Clicking on the 'Buy Now' button immediately takes me to a Mojang signup page, which really turns me off. Tell me how much the damned thing costs first before I decide if I want to sign up or not., FFS.
I'm still waiting for proper mod support. Stopped playing over a year ago because of all the hassles with adding mods back every time there was an update.

Click on Store at the top and it should take you to: https://minecraft.net/store

Which shows the price as 19.95 Euro.

Isn't it like 20$ or something?

I believe it's about $30 right now. I saw a gift card for the game at Wal-Mart for $26.95 the last time I went. Thank god I bought it back when it was $13. If you asked me whether I think I've gotten $30 worth of entertainment out of Minecraft, I would say "Triple that, easily". I love Minecraft.

As Arteveld mentioned, Better Than Wolves is really fantastic. At first glance, the game seems largely identical to vanilla Minecraft, and you could play like vanilla Minecraft, more or less, if you wanted to, but as you ascend up the technology tree (which absolutely dwarfs the advancement of vanilla, and eventually rewards you with the complexity of 4x4 crafting recipes once you've worked your way there), you'll find a radically different game with exponentially more depth than the vanilla game.

It's also put together very well. All of the ideas are really great, nothing stands out or really spoils it all, and it's very stable. The only unfortunate thing is that barely any other mods work with it (Thankfully, InvTweaks does), but you'll hardly care.

Obviously, I've enjoyed Minecraft a great deal, and it gets better all the time. I've clearly gotten my money's worth and then some. All the same, I think $30 for Minecraft is a ridiculous price, but Mojang is greedy and know people will pay up.
Good to know I can pick up the card from in-store, even if the game is not my cup of tea I was considering getting it for someone for Christmas. Thanks for the heads up ^^
I have problem with the latest version of DrZharks MoCreatures Mod ( v4.3.1 ) .
It's crashing the game .
The same like with all sandbox games. Once you discover all the features (there's a finite number of them, that's the bane of sandbox) and play them to death, the game holds no more appeal.
