I simply can't find anywhere to buy it yet. I've looked on places like Amazon and Play but their all from sellers with "noticeable damage to the contents" (IE: they don't work).
Can someone please tell me where I might find it? It's the one game in the Thief series I haven't played yet.
The latest release of Thief 2 is in the Thief Collection EIDOS released in 2006. It should still be available at your local retailer.
Yup. I got that Thief Collection for 10€ in the Netherlands... but the edition sucks
I can buy and send a copy to you. We still have it here
Let me know if you really want it that badly

Thanks but I'd feel bad if you did.
I'm having a look around for the Thief Collection now.
Ebay has few version you might try it if you'd like?
I found a copy, bought it.
It's on it's way.
Nevertheless a Gog version would be good... hint hint :D

I have it, but it's a headache setting it up on Vista. All I want is for it to work, in widescreen, with Darkloader.
But the faqs for that are vague, skip over details or sometimes just describe things that never happen on screen. They just aren't clear. Besides, even after it's all set up, some things are still quirky (fog doesn't work, for instance).
The Thief community is awesome, but they seem to lack the organization of, say, the Freepsace 2 Open crowd. Those guys have their **** down pat.
I would gladly buy it again at GoG, paying for the trademark convenience, compatibility and support (not that I bought it in the first place; I got it for free with a new video card way back when. Best freebie EVER).
By the way, for those of you with Doom 3:

I have it running on Windows 7.
Get DDFix http://timeslip.chorrol.com/ddfix.html
Install 1.33 or 1.37 or whatever it is for Thief 2. Depends on which you have, obviously.
Run the DDFix GUI and choose your desired resolution, you can also run the video fix if you wish. DDFix will also fix the Dual Core issue.
Optimise with DarkLoader.
Play the game.
If you have an Nvidia card replace your thief.exe with this:
http://www.thief-thecircle.com/download.asp?fid=726 For Thief 1.33
http://www.thief-thecircle.com/download.asp?fid=727 For Thief Gold
Unfortunately the same patch isn't available for Thief 2 because it bypasses the copy protection.

I always liked the idea of the Theif games, but those games always had this lack of polish to them that bothered me enough so that I couldn't immerse myself in the gameplay. I can learn to forgive videogame quirks by suspending disbelief, but when immersion is essential to the core experience, I'm less forgiving.

fuNGoo: lack of polish

Care to elaborate?

Yeah that's what they said, essentially, but they're several things:
1) DDfix fails to patch it. It just aborts. Even with admin mode and all that
2) I had no idea, and still have no idea, what "optimize with darkloader" means. Everyone phrases that step almost exactly like that, but there isn't any "optimize" button in darkloader. I don't even recall it appearing ANYwhere in the darkloader gui.
3) There are also disagreements over which goes first: installing DDfix or Darkloader/optimization. Some said one thing some said the other.
The issues of patching and meddling with that Thief2.exe under Vista64 just seem to not be discussed or documented.
