A close friend of mine has her birthday next week and we decided to record and mash-up with her favourite songs some best wishes. But it is not enough. She studies culture and history of Portugal and she loves it so it'd be just ducky if few of the phrases on that record were in Portugese.

Do we have here any Portugese-speaking good old gamers with microphones somewhere near them?

What is it you need exactly ?

There are both Portuguese and Brasilian users around on a regular basis who can potencially help you out, maybe others too, just be a bit more specific about what it is you require.

15 seconds long, good quality record of something like this:

"Hey! In spite of the fact that I don't know you, I've heard that you love Portugal so we decided to wish you all the best also in Portugese! The health, love, friends and the fortune and glory. And all you can only imagine! Have fun in your life!"

She's turning 20. So it's kinda special. Or those are just us, who want it to be special :)

Be aware that Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese are so freaking different that are practically different languages.

I can suggest you a variety of great musical classics in Brazilian Portuguese, like:
Carinhoso from Pixinguinha;
Garota de Ipanema and Águas de Março from Tom Jobim;
João e Maria from Chico Buarque (specially good in the recording with Nara Leão);
A Banda from Chico Buarque
and others.

I know nothing about Portugal and their culture, though.

The lines you asked are translated in Br Portuguese as:
'Ei! Apesar do fato de não conhecê-la bem, ouvi dizer que você ama Portugal, então decidi desejar-lhe tudo de bom em português também! Saúde, amor, amigos e fortuna e glória. E tudo mais que você puder imaginar! Divirta-se vivendo!"

They would have quite some differences in Portugal's Portuguese, specially phonetically, since they have a very different accent from all different Brazilian accents (and there are a LOT of different accents here.)

I was aware of those differences, but thanks a lot for your post. Especially for the list of musicians.

My friend studies Portugal-Portugese, so I suppose that she would have problems understanding wishes recorded in Br-Port. However, phrases written in your language look great :)

You're welcome. You can find Garota de Ipanema (the girl from Ipanema) and Águas de Março (Waters of March) in English recordings, too. You can even find the first one recorded by Francis Albert Sinatra himself, together with Tom Jobim.

I'm not sure about the quality though, my mic is as crappy as they come, which is just as well 'cause the voice is nothing to write home about either.

I changed the end of the original text so that it would make more sense in Portuguese, so instead of "Have fun in life", wich comes out really weird when translated to Portuguese, i went with "Enjoy life to the fullest and have fun". I hope that's ok.

If you're looking for songs typically Portuguese i guess Carlos Paredes ou Amália Rodrigues are obvious names. For something deeply rooted in the tradition of 'everything Portugal' but with a more contemporary sonority i'd probably go with Madredeus - a bit sad and suited for contemplation but beautiful nontheless.

From what I hear it's the other way around - people who know Portugal Portuese can understand Brazilian Portuguese perfectly well, but for Brazilians it's hard to understand the Portuguese ... :D (Brazilian pronunciation is much clearer while in Portugal lots of syllables are omitted, I think.)

That is correct for people who *know* Portugal Portugese. Friend of mine has been studying it for a year now and dealing with different versions of words or methods of speaking is still a little hard :)
