With regards to giveaways on GOG, almost always the chances of winning are less than 1%, which is less than 1 out of a hundred

I've won four total, sitting, as i speak, at a 1:850 win/entries ratio...
All in all, since it is a zero-effort, 5 minutes break to partecipate, and got decent gifts, i can't complain and was happy to giveaway something in return myself...

On the contrary, quite a few giveaways here on the forum have very few entries.

Anyway, I'm wondering why l0rdtr3k posted here. It's quite traditional for people to post these things on the Steam Gifts forum and get slammed for it. Hmmm, maybe it's a good reason not to post there.

In my last Deus Ex giveway you only have to answer 2 simple questions and I have 15 entries for 5 games.

Going over the giveaway directory, many giveaways have a better than 1:10 chance. Some giveaways have a dozen games and 80 entries. Some have one game and 20 entries.

Sure some of them have conditions, but it's usually pretty easy conditions. Tell a knock-knock joke, say what you'd do with a Jedi mind trick, post a cat picture, things which take very little time to accomplish.

If you want to win, and don't care exactly what, it's pretty easy to do here. Even if you care, it's still easier than on Steam Gifts.

i entered 1003 before i won a game on steam gifts :D

I found SteamGifts the other day, but i can't join as they have a minimum purchase total on steam before you join and as mine is £0.66 I am quite a bit short :-)

GOG is the only site I really look at for PC games - most modern games I play on my console - if its out for my 360 I'll get it for that rather than the PC, so my Steam purchase total won't be getting any bigger any time soon ;-)

Upping the Steam minimum to the required level takes only a few dollars. Just buy a couple of indie bundles and you're set. For example the current Humble Bundle at $1 will give you $47.94 Steam value.
