True but who is going to hire a lawyer and take them to court over some computer games? Justice has to be paid for at least where I come from and usually it isn't worth the cost.

I'm in Russia, and Origin doesn't allow me to choose the language of the site - as soon as I enable javascript, it's redirect time. When I try to change the language, it redirects me to the EA main site. The language of the games is not specified, which is highly unprofessional, so I naturally assumed the worst. Since site launch, nothing has changed. So I decided to boycott it.

Turns out I was right.

I would (but I could call on a few buddys). Honestly, I'm somewhat hoping Steam/Origin tries something, because that would be a landmark case. And just for a second consider a class action suite against EA in the US. Damn, I need to move. Usually that is what you use "Consumer Protection Agencies" for. The german one got Origin to rewrite their first TOS.

But I can see your point, there are whole business build around the idea "I don't go to court for a few euros" here.

That is obvious, but I still consider it a crappy practice. I don't need a translation for the game that wasn't originally in Russian. I'm fine with English. Besides, Origin didn't indicate a language of the game at the time of purchase or on the game's store page. It changed the name of the game in my library only after a couple of days after it's release to RU Only.

In my case it is not. It's not just mass effect 3. I tried it with the first one too. If I have the in-game overlay on (and it needs it in multiplayer mode) my mouse if I move it, the game is stuttering as hell. If I take overlay off, works like a dream (with all on and high) and not a bad dream.
I can however play the multiplayer-mode by lowering my mouse speed to nothing in windows. So that I just barely can move in the desktop and in the game I put mouse sensitivity almost full so that even the slightest movement turns a lot. So it is playable but menus are freaking annoying like that. There the cursor still moves slow and I mean really slow.

Other than that. I like origin.

Origin is a good service, but they have poor programmers or poor people responsible for making improvements.

For example, it's still not easy to browse entire Origin catalogue :P Also, prices and games are different on origin website, and different if you browse the shop through origin app.

Pie is superior to cake, clearly.

I don't like Origin because their sales are stupidly region locked. And when they are not, they are mislabeled. And they don't have a wide enough selection yet.

That being said, I do use it to redeem cheap amazon acquired keys when those get ludicrous,y discounted.

Gamersgate is KIND of clientless. And a bunch of their games are drm-free.

Or Gamersgate, or Desura, or Indievania.

Actually Origin doesn't always let you change the language so easily. I've got Mass Effect 2 on Steam and when I tried to add it to Origin I had to decide on language: http://i.imgur.com/U2C6C.png

as for Origin, i was fairly critical when it launched. i dreaded the thought of having a second Steam running in the background and tying my games to it. turns out it works well enough, is quick and hassle-free. i'm not considering actually purchasing anything on Origin, but i can deal with it as the launcher for BF3, ME3 and future EA games. for older EA games, you don't even need the client running to start the games (like SHIFT 2 or Medal of Honor), plus you can register your boxed copies on Origin and receive a free digital download edition.

I find Origin much faster than Steam as well. Well, the first version of Origin insisted on deep-scanning each hard drive in my machine but they patched that out long ago and now it's quite pleasant.
