there are many abandonware sites. so? there are many torrent sites offering brand new games and movies. what's your point?

there was this topic recently about abandonware and if it was "okay" and such where also this site was mentioned.

my point? sites like that have been mentioned here and there several times even if its not a direct link yet when someone posts it now when someone specifically asks if its abandonware its not done. bit double standard.

what is your point really? not everything is out there on the big internet. try finding that rare old game or song its not always there unlike new movies, thats totally different.
not to mention the fact that in most cases you can find a few links to old games on ebay where you have to pay top dollar for certain games.

Lugum, not sure if there is a double standard or not, but Gog's rules state that no links are allowed to abadonware/warez/porn/etc.

People are allowed to mention such site's names(but not URLs) in discussion but that's about it....and that's what most do when talking about such sites...they say the site's name in passing. They don't offer links, which is what the guy above did.

i know and totally understandable , and atleast abandonia offers links to gog (which most abandonware sites might even not do) the main post i started was about how everyone could just google if they really wanted to look for a specific game and therefor a link wouldnt have been even necessary. which somehow revolved into getting some nonsense about cp and warez and what not.

either just people dont understand my sarcasm today or i am just too rebelious :p

It's just that it's not allowed by Gog, which trumps our beliefs sadly. Their house and all that. And the cp line was meant to convey that just because one might find it ok to post something here doesn't mean they should or that Gog will allow it.....albeit yes the comparison to cp was a bit extreme I admit.

Also lol I rebelled alot in my early forum days as well, and caught flack for it too.....mainly because I lean slightly pro-sharing and have stated such before here/

By sharing I meant the online shady sharing sort of sharing. ;)

And btw alot here have admitted to doing so in the past, yet claim to not do it anymore....but regardless if they do it anymore or not I find it amusing that when I admit to having pro-sharing stances currently(even after joining gog) i'm lesser in some of their eyes just because I still do it and they don't.

Abandonware, to me, is not about being "pro-sharing." I would actually say that generally I am very against file-sharing. To me abandonware is about preservation, keeping the classics playable and available when their license holders or developers either choose not to or cannot do so.

gosh 3 tb of ps1/2 games, 6000 ds roms, more then a thousand of pc copies. most of which i will probably never ever gonna play. those people here must think i am scum then.
