I would like to think we are a bit beyond making fun of people for their appearance. Assuming the pics are genuine, let them be happy and stay off the internet trolling.

You and I can agree on that. Poster Y (and probably a multitude of others) apparently thinks that the internet is a rules free anarchy zone, where you can do whatever the hell you want, and damn the consequences for anyone else.
The internet has broken quite a few people to date. These two, the Star Wars kid, and many others.
On the other hand, it's also made quite a few people. Which reminds me, I'm going to see Jeff Dunham tomorrow. There's a guy who owes his career to YouTube, at least. Well, not his entire career, but YouTube certainly facilitated his leap from "moderately-well-known-but-in-America-only entertainer", to "fabulously-famous-international-superstar". Which is also the reason he's coming to Copenhagen tomorrow, something he would have never done if the internet had not propelled him to international fame.

That's just good for them though. And in the more broader perspective it is really good, since it brings a lot of happiness to the people that laugh at them, so don't be such a bore.

They do seem very happy, and that is what truly matters.

Hey, I've laughed at the Star Wars kid too. Who hasn't? But that doesn't mean I don't feel sorry for him, and I certainly would never badmouth him publicly in the way these people are doing. I take it you're of the Poster Y persuasion, then?

On the one hand, the pics were so surreal as to appear to be fake (I thought the wife was a man), which makes them unbelievably funny, but they are apparently not fake, which makes the whole thing kind of sad and inappropriate. I don't know if I should laugh or weep for humanity.

Personally, whenever I put something serious and something that should not be maken fun of, online, I expect the worst. Anybody who doesn't expect the worst shouldn't be posting online. I expect to be teased, made fun of, etc. So when/if it happens, I don't get all heart broken over it.

Jeff Dunham is the antithesis of funny, I don't understand how people can like him. On the topic at hand though, I agree that it sucks for them and it was mean, under anonymity people can be animals.

The Star Wars kid was different. VERY different.
He recorded a video of him being a doofus, and posted it on the internet. When you do that, you deserve whatever mockery you get.

He didn't post those vids. Someone else who wanted to make him look like a fool posted those vids online.
