jamyskis: I'm sorry...what?

I get the expensive bit, but it really pisses me off when Brits piss and moan that X brand of food and drink is not available in a foreign country. If you move to a foreign country, you have to give up on certain home comforts.

Do I complain that I can't get Dany desserts, Milka chocolate bars or decent beer in the UK? No! I make do with I can get locally *slurps on my Ribena*.
Actually, you can get Milka chocolate bars in the UK in any big supermarket - they've been here for at least the last few years and they now stock quite a few versions. Just in case that's ever the deciding factor in someone coming/ not coming here ;P

But yeah, I'm with you - I hate folks doing that, it is crazy naïve :)

Actually, now that you mention it, I do recall seeing them in Tesco and being mildly amused, but they were a fuckload more expensive than they are over here (£1=€1). Then again, on the rare occasion that we see Cadbury's bars over here, they tend to be a fair bit more expensive than in the UK as well.

In any case, we're a very multiculti household, as this picture shows ;)

kaka123: Anyone else who is outraged by the ACB leave a comment

Sucks to be an Aussie gamer

What's the point of having a goddam R18 rating and then have games like state of decay, saints row iv etc banned or heavily censored !! absolute fucking trash!! fuck the ACB fuck them and their pussy whipped friends !!
Whilst it annoys me to no end they won't get with the times nor use actual logic and common sense, my money goes overseas to places like Steam, Gamersgate, getgamesgo, and Amazon. If Australia doesn't want my money because they choose to treat me like a helpless, easily lead/influenced child, then so be it

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else though, I love my country, even if it does have some immensely retarded things

The £1=€1 sounds about right; the method of price conversions on goods from any currency into another always seems to boil down to 'you lose!'. Grr ;)

Educational picture, now I know the brands to look for if I ever want some Ribena substitutes :D

Well, I wouldn't necessarily go for the French one there, as it's Carrefour's version of Tesco Value :)

I'd laugh at your stupid laws but that would be the German pot calling the Aussie kettle black...

Oh. Suddenly I feel like I can guess the taste ;)
Thank god I have an unlocked Steam account - access to non-AU Steam stores
And thank god for Amazon's lack of strict enforcement of Geo-IP BS

Being a gamer in Australia sucks... region locking, regional price hikes and now the fucking ACB screwed us on our R18 which we have fought for over 10 years for

And with that I'm off to play Larry Reloaded... no doubt would be RC'ed back home!
(Not really... but with the roll that the ACB is on as of late... toss a coin...)

As far as gaming goes, I've always felt Australia is like Germany, only with more sand.
You're welcome to come to ireland, opportunities for BBQ's are rather limited though :(

Only that Australia never went through something like the Nazis and Holocaust as reasoning for having suppressive laws. Although I guess you could argue that our convict past has something to do the persistent belief that content must be regulated and controlled, Victorian moral hangover if you will.
You'd think the descendants of ex-cons living in the Land of God's Failed Experiments wouldn't be such prudes when it came to violence in video games.

ne_zavarj: Censorship of the PC games .
avatar
jamyskis: Well, that much I know, but thankfully, we have seven neighbouring countries that do video game selling better, and almost everyone lives near enough to one of them :)

I used to live near enough to the Dutch border, and now I live an hour's car trip and a ferry trip away from Denmark.
Hah, i used to live ON the dutch/german border. Beat that.

ne_zavarj: And to the OP : Avoid Hungary ! Worst country in the EU .
Yeah ! People there sound like Xenophobic lying autarcists ! :D
Right, what with all the police brutality, unlawful incarceration, homophobia, rampant embezzlement, racism, unemployment, paid primary education, religious persecution, collapse of social security...

Oh wait

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
