Darvin: In its fully-patched state, Diablo 2 hell difficulty is close to unbeatable legitimately. Synergies and the preponderance of immunities means that every character will eventually encounter monsters they simply are incapable of fighting at the higher difficulties. Ironically, the hammerdin is the only exception as (for whatever reason) blessed hammer has a damage bug that was never fixed and nothing is immune to it.
Finished the game on hell, fully patched, with synergies, with almost every character build available. I can assure you, it's doable.

EDIT: And I've had countless level 99 chars ON HARDCORE !

I got my Vitality at 99 along with Strength
Yeah, that's low. I'd say 150 vitality would be about minimum for Baal.

One of the challenges melee characters have is meeting item prerequisites while still investing enough points into vitality to actually tank successfully. This is part of the reason why spellcasters are a lot easier to play than melee types. They don't need to meet item prerequisites so they can just put all their points into vitality (energy is a trap; don't add anything to it)
and yes I did notice that I am not getting any good equipment through most of the game.

Espcially since there were no stronger swords so I had to use hammers :(
Yup, my biggest gripe with Diablo 2 is the absolutely appaulingly low drop rate of decent weaponry. Wouldn't be so bad if the merchants had decent stock, but their weapons are pretty much obsolete by late act 2.

I'm sorry, I missed a keyword: solo. No help from other characters, only using gear you find yourself.

Yes, solo. On single player, AND on hardcore as well. Again, it's really not that hard. Also, when you write to someone, try to reply, so I know you answered.

Well, congrats then. I certainly know there are some people who have done it, but it's extraordinarily rare. Probably less than a hundredth of a percent of the player-base.

I'd be willing to bet money that if we got a random room full of 100 randomly-selected Diablo 2 players, none of them would be able to pull it off within any reasonable time period.

If even players in the top-percentile can't do it, then in a colloquial sense it's "impossible". I certainly wouldn't use the standards of an Olympic swimmer to judge someone who is just enjoying a day at the beach.

I tend to draft my responses in notepad if they're longer than a few sentences. Anyways, if you insist I can include the post reference.

The main problem is when you make a specific build you will definitely find countless monsters 100% immune on your attacks.

So I'm pretty curious how he managed to solo Diablo 2 on hell with every class as well.
Yes, but did you do it drunk? :P

Elmofongo: Man this game was way harder than Diablo 1.
I disagree, as far as I can remember of both games. I found e.g. the bosses much harder in the first one (starting from the first butcher boss), but also little things like I found bows and such near useless in Diablo 1, as the shots would constantly miss targets if the target was not coming in straight line towards you.

I recall I was much less frustrated overall with Diablo 2 than what I was with Diablo 1. Especially the bosses.

Elmofongo: Also there is no way in hell am I doing hell mode unless I play with a group of people, but than again I am not interested in that :P
Please. The only way to play Diablo II is to play alone, with Players 8 enabled (that simulates 8 players being in the game - enemies are much harder, but give better loot and more exp), through hell.

Chapter 2 merc with a good rare spear, combined with other skills that have one or more point in them, can take care of immunes.

You don't need luck. It's an extremely fun game, a lot better designed than the predecessor. You should have tons of fun ^^.
You played with a Paladin, and you're still alive? Strange that you didn't get bored to death.

My playthrough consisted of just using Holy Fire and Holy Freeze and running around like a fly without a head.

I respectfully disagree. D3 is just okay, it's fun as the first time through, but on the second playthrough it just becomes boring imo.

My Grips:

Dungeons and Overworlds are so big and long they almost take forever and with fighting the same demons using the same attack strategy it becomes extremely tedious and I get detached from the game.

This game Multiplayer orientedness really butchers the single player aspects, why do potions don't heal instantly, There are some enemies that are meant to be countered by another class entirely like Blue Desert Beetles that when attacked spreads lighting all over the floor screwing over Melee fighters. The above sentence also applies.

And I am starting to understand why people say Diablo 1 was scarier, only scary places was all of Act 4 and dungeons in Act 1 and 2.

Pros:

YOU CAN RUN AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO CLICK THE MOUSE CONSTANTLY TO ATTACK! :D

Classes are more varied and unique, Hammerdin Paladins was my playthrough.

And though I hade my grips with the open world I still like it to some degree.

Well I beaten 2 classic PCRPGs, next game to beat is Morrowind.
Finishing Diablo II. It is only possible with playing all kind of characters and all kind of builds on all difficulty levels with finding almost all items. Now that is finishing Diablo II and in that journey that its fun comes.
