Perhaps you'd like to actually contribute?

I'm not going to contribute again to this same asinine thread that pops up every few weeks. If you want to see my thoughts on the matter, you can look at any one of the SC2 or Diablo 3 bashing threads in the forum history.

I will, however, call people out for making moronic comments, like calling anything that has or will exist on consoles a console port.

StingingVelvet: By that measure ice cream is the pinnacle of food.
Wait... Are you implying that it isn't?

rampancy: I'd think that empirically only about 1/4 of the people who actually say that they want to boycott Diablo 3 are going to actually follow through on that.
That many? I wish I had your confidence :-)

StingingVelvet: It's more that there is no singleplayer rather than singleplayer requiring you being online. Yes you can solo it, but you can solo WoW too.

Anyway, these games don't really do much for me so it's no big deal for me to skip D3.
well, I've played Diablo and Diablo II in single mostly and I loved it, spent many, many, many, many, many hours doing so (tried a little multi in each but didn't like it much)

so even if the focus is on multiplayer, it will still have singleplayer (which you can play forever unlike the SC2)

SC2 singleplayer is going to end?

For me I'm not getting Diablo 3 sadly.
I don't have many things that stop me buying games (outside of an outdated graphics card) but the requirement to remain online the whole time in order to play the game, even in single player only mode, is one such factor that makes me not purchase a game.
I've never had a totally solid net connection and furthermore don't like the idea that I must remain online - must keep sending/receiving data - must keep using my monthly limit in order to play something that has no reason to be hooked up to the net.

I've no problem with onetime activations online and no problem with online based games which, by design, need online connections. But I simply don't purchase singleplayer games (or games with a component of singleplayer content) which demand my connection online in order to play.

Also - I don't actually mind the real money auction house in the game. To my mind its just adding the real life money transactions that go on anyway for things like Diablo 2 and other games; into the game itself and providing a safe environment for people to deal; rather than more risky out of game purchases and exchanges where its so easy to be scammed out of real money for the digital products.
So long as the auction house does not result in those with a natural trading talent or big pockets to leapfrog far and above those who cannot master nor invest as much real (additional) money into the game.

overread: SC2 singleplayer is going to end?
well, after you finish the campaign there's no reason to play it again (maybe on higher difficulty but still), you'll move to the multiplayer world after that. in Diablo, you can play it single forever, you'll still find new equipment, reach new levels with your character...
Constant Internet connection for single player? That sounds horrible, especially with my bandwidth limit. I probably won't get it either.
I will try when it gets down to 30$ range, I am actually more excited about Torchlight 2 and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. To be honest I was turned off to Diablo 2 multiplayer because of the cheaters and it will be nice that it will be policed in 3. The Auction house and always online I will have a wait and see attitude.

.
Or or skirmish against the ai ;)
Or replaying cause -- I like SC2 :)
And asides playing MP when I want to when connected to the net is different to being forced to be connected the whole time.

wow such wit! I mean I'm just totally stunned by your ability to use the correct grammar I am stupefied by your argument... oh wait no I'm not.

Diablo 3 is coming to consoles meaning they will have to cut back /somewhere/ for it to work there now the chances are they won't cut back the console port as thats where they'll make most of their cash so PC version it is. Even games that have been co-developed by 2 groups on PC and console have always resulted in bad console ports appearing on the PC. The closest to a good port is probably ME2 and that still had problems from also being on console.

Yeah, Blizzard's pretty well known for never delaying their games to ensure quality.
Umm might get it , might not , cant say its a game I have been thinking about :)

thats old blizz new blizz is another matter, since activision things have changed plus come on this is a company that took the fun out of a game just to sell it to the pro circuit!
Well, I played and enjoyed the first Diablo very much when it was new. I never did get Diablo II and wish I'd played that one. I'm not sure it would run okay on my Win7 PC now.

So I'm a little bit behind to be worrying about Diablo 3 I guess.

The always online thing doesn't really phase me since I am constantly connected anyway. I'd prefer they didn't do that in case my ISP is down at some point but for me personally that "feature" in a game isn't a deal breaker.

The real money auction house I have mixed feelings about. Ideally, there wouldn't be real money spent on ingame advancement, buying one's way to glory, etc. On the other hand, people have been doing this in various online games for many years now. It's nothing new. This just legitimizes it and makes it safer for buyers I guess. As for farmers farming, they were going to do that anyway. I don't know why there would be more of them particularly just because it is over the table now.

All that said, I wouldn't mind playing Diablo II first if I could.
I won't buy it, either. I'll pirate it.

Just kidding! aaaaaahahahaha!

The first two weren't really my thing - they were at the time but a recent re-installation had me bored - and I'm not going to pay A-list pricing for games any more. Maybe when it hits that $5-10 mark, though I doubt I'll buy it then, either.
