I don't trust remakes much, they're usually worst than the originals in an aspect or another (although there are a very few notable exceptions).

My opinion in that matter, is that they shouldn't release a game (and charge for it) before it's finished. Or at least inform the possible customers that they will be beta-testing.

Have not followed the RoA re-make that closely. Too bad that its had some problems. The thing that is somewhat dangerous with re-makes these days is sometimes the vision of the franchise/game that made the original so good is lost. Developers get caught up with adding fancy bells and whistles, and changing gameplay etc. so much that it turns off the original fanbase. When that happens, the re-makes never do as well as the originals.

I love remakes. Especially since I have been gaming since the 80s. There are a ton of oldies I would like to see updated and ROA was one of them.

The original ROA was such a ridiculous RPG. You could get injured while you were camping if you were not properly stocked. The original ROA had level max and I hate level maximums in my RPGs. I like getting to level 47 (my typical ending level in games with no max).

So when I heard about a month ago they were not only doing a remake but it was almost out, I was pretty excited to see this first person remake. Alas the word of mouth killed my day one purchase spree. But I am checking the boards and I think these guys are going to get it together because they have plans of doing the trilogy.

I have had no personal experience with the realms of arkania remake, thus i can't judge it.
Does not mean all remakes can be bad, though mostly they are.
