Spinorial: So please permit me, this week, to enter for Hesusio, who's been a great sport in our recent battle of wits and witticisms. Cheers!

Hesusio: Thanks. I'm rather touched. I may've already entered a couple of posts ago, though (unless this means I now have two chances to win, in which case, huzzuh!)
That's the big idea ;)

Well then, huzzuh!
Thanks as always Lou, please count me in.

Remake for me is ok only if they touch the graphics, maybe the sounds and small technical things to improve the gameplay experience. They not have to modify other things. Otherwise is a different game, not a remake.
I don't like remakes, it's often better to play original version. I like remastered versions, it can be a nice lifting of the past. I like reboots, which give you a new experience mixed sometimes with nostalgia.

Please count me in. Thanks once again for the giveaway Lou and jsjrodman ! :-)
So far all remakes I've played were inferior to the originals.

Thanks for the giveaway Lou and jsjrodman
thanks to you and jsjrodman for the giveaway!

I know remakes usually turn out bad but there are exceptions!

such as: Xcom Enemy Uknown! (Can't wait for the expansion!)

also +1! :D
I was really looking forward to a Star Trail remake, but now, it looks less and less likely. I've said my piece on this in the ROA thread so won't beat a dead horse here.

My favorite remake ever was the fan remake of QFG2. I played the EGA version back in the day (tough game, really old school), and it's brilliant how they've turned pixel into painting. Only wish AGDI got more credit for it in their kickstarter.

I like it when companies remaster games and release them as a collection on more recent systems, like MGS and Jak and Dexter, for example. I think remakes are much more tricky to do right than remasters. I haven't played many remakes, though.
i am in
thanks to you and jsjrodman

Movies, games everywhere. Its reducing your risk of financial disaster if you know that there is a fanbase.
But how many of them are good?
Just new graphics, effects and sound or a total makeover? For Schicksalsklinge it was like they did a very poor job.
Most of the fans are disappointed.
For me a good memory about a game i once played is just that a good memory.
For most of the old games i bought from GOG in hindsight i can't understand that i once liked them.
Devs let them rest in peace and combines your power for new ideas.
In for the last express. Thank you!

Sometimes movie or comic remakes are rahter reboots, just shuffle around the pieces of story line and characters. Game remakes, well I don't know much about them.

Ooo, The last Express! I'm in, thank you!

The Realms of Arcania release was a disaster to be sure. I was really looking forward to it but to be honest I was a bit sceptical from the start since the team seemed amateurish. Releasing the game in such a state was definitely a mistake, but at least they are working on fixing it instead of just laughing all the way to the bank. If they can get it more or less fixed I'm going to buy it one day. I hope they'll do.
In please! I've never played Realms of Arkania, original or remake, so I fear I can't contribute much to that. However, I know some wonderful fan remakes of old classics - for instance, AGD Interactive's remakes of the first two King's Quest games were great, and the KQII remake was significantly better than the original. I wish they would do one of King's Quest IV, as frankly that one is most in need of an overhaul.
