So we have come to Week Twenty-Seven - Week Three of the Storm

For those that missed the last two weeks, let me explain "The Storm"

For the Next Twenty-Three Weeks we will be experiencing A Hurricane of Game Giveaway Goodness. What I have been referring to as The Storm. While (GOG) continues to transform itself into into (GIG) Great Indie Games - We will keep the acronym going strong with Great Overwhelming Giveaways (GOG) for the next twenty-three weeks. So please take part in the upcoming weeks and have fun.

Our first week of the Storm saw the Updated Classic from the Great Days of Bioware's Past as I gave away two (2) copies of Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition on Gamersgate. Last week we had our first Gift from Steam as I gave away one (1) copy of Dungeon Siege Complete. This week it seems like the Storm is moving slowly inland and Picking Up STEAM. So, we will be sticking with Steam as our distribution service again for this weeks giveaways. Did I say Giveaway(s)? Yes I did - This week I have Three (3) copies of Company of Heroes 2 up for grabs. So, forget the RPG's for now and put on your Wartime Strategy Game hats for the newest edition in one of the Best in the Genre. Once again I am giving everyone an extra chance this week as you may enter twice in the thread - so place your entries strategically. I hope you are enjoying the Storm so far and please enter the giveaway and I will randomly draw for the codes sometime on Monday Evening - Enjoy.

For audience participation this week - Let me hear your thoughts on Strategy Games (Wartime in particular) and what games are your favorite. Personally, I have liked the Company of Heroes Series and was very excited when GOG landed Panzer General 2 (I was hoping for all the General Titles). I have enjoyed Strategic War Gaming since playing Avalon Hill Board Games as a kid, like Axis & Allies and Blitzkrieg. So lets hear from you.

As Always - The Hall of Heroes can be found here here
First again;-)
And still not in - guess you'd have to be tied to a computer chair with nothing but adventure games to play ;-p

Not in but thanks, as always, for the fun GA's!

I'm not in this week because even though I'd like to play this game, it uses Starforce DRM (in addition to Steam and CEG).

Still, an honourable mention should go to little known Panzer Corps as a nice turn-based wartime strategy.
Alright, I'm in!

Regarding strategy games.... several of em stuck in the typical "tweak it to make it so hard to pad the game" trope that I dislike so much. There are some strategy games that stuck with this attitude that turning the game from fun into boring repetitive game.

Example: You started with a limited amount of units. the game is the typical "rock paper scissor" fights. You send the soldiers to a wrong spot and BOOM! defeat. We need to restart the game over and over again.

The worst? When they add Escort mission in it. I HATE escort missions with only few games as exceptions.

I checked and there's no evidence they use Starforce DRM. Are you sure?

If in doubt, look at what the crackers are cracking.
Starforce almost stopped me, but I think it's just the basic one (key management and stuff). I don't like it, but I can live with it.... so I'm in after all.
Anyway back to the topic. I love Panzer General. Especially 2 :D. One of my all time favorite games. And Fantasy General (which is abandonware i think). So a big thumbs up!

In of course for Company of Heroes 2

Not in this time, as I bought CoH on a Humble Bundle and I have yet to play it... not sure when.. ;p

I like strategy games, not as much as the old days of Age of Empires 2 and Starcraft, but I still like some. And I really enjoy games like Desperados or the Commandos series...

Thanks one more time Lou!

Not in, but thanks.

I hate RTS from WW I & II era. :p
Thank you Lou once again. :) Please count me in!

I loved Hidden & Dangerous 1 & 2, since then, I played other genres of strategy game, more fantasy or sci-fi (Starcraft in primis)
Not in, but thanks as always Lou.
+1 and thank you for your generosity. Not entering.
Not in, but thanks for another generous giveaway, Lou! +1
Count me in, although given my backlog and terrible PC specs CH2 may be wasted on me...

The first strategy game I really got into was Warcraft 2, back in the days when Blizzard meant quality. I remember it came with all sorts of stuff in the box, like pencils and notepaper - all that stopped a few years later when DVD style cases became the norm... Anyway, I played it to death, completing both campaigns and getting the expansion as soon as it came out.

I don't remember if C&C was out before or after Warcraft 2, but it didn't really grab me at the time. I played the demo, but was definitely more interested in Warcraft. Until Red Alert came out.

I'm pretty awful at MP in strategy games, although I don't play much MP now anyway, but I always had a tendency to turtle up and my economy suffered, and soon I'd be overwhelemed by masses of vastly superior enemies as my opponent had rocketed up the tech tree...
Not in but +1

I like Blitzkrieg the most of all WWII-themed strategy games.
Thank you for the giveaway!

I received a copy of Order of War a few years ago. That was my first major entry into a war game. While it seems to be more action oriented than detailed strategy, it was a lot of fun. My typical RTS strategy of build-build-build-overwhelm didn't work so I enjoyed the change of pace.
