The Might & Magic series has lots o' loot (at least 1-5 do, I don't play 6+). But varying items made of varying materials with varying abilities & bonuses.

YUM!! :-D
Morrowind is quite surprisingly a loot whore's paradise. SO......MUCH......GLOWING....STUFF!!!

The game even sends you on quests to retrieve loot! See the Temple quests. When I had my house in the Telvani town it was filled to the brim with glowing swords, armors, boots, rings, gloves, robes. The game also has a lot of fun things you can MAKE. Ever make a dagger with a permanent effect that cast that Bound Axe spell upon equipping it?
loot whore / achivement whore / completionist

yeah its really bad I miss playing sandbox Interstate 76 on lan and other such things, victim of the new gaming industry.

-Torchlight (my best 20$ investment ever)
-Diablo II (cant go wrong)
-Dungeon siege series
-Mythos (europeean free MMO based around loot, initially designed by the Torchlight team and SICK crafting system, the best out there)
-Morrowind (Daedric sets is so much fun)

klaymen: I am not a loot whore. In fact I prefer "proper" (IMO) RPGs, instead of grinding for some effing amulet to complete a set. On the other hand, I enjoy some clickfest from time to time.

So, uh, I think I'd better leave this thread...

The only problem I have with lootfests is that often I'll pick up some gear and stick with it for half of the game because I haven't found anything truly better than it, making the lootfest kind of redundant.

Aaahhh I forgot being a completionist too.... Anyone ever played a Suikoden game?? I had a notebook with me all the time playing that game (Suikoden 1 for the PS1 on the PSP) so that I could wright down where every character was and what I had to do to get them to join me!

I'm a... loot aficionado.

I love finding new loot and getting better gear, but story trumps it all. I couldn't get into Torchlight and, although I played it to death when it first came out, I doubt I could play Diablo again either.

If you mean, diablo 1, I'm in the same boat. Replayed it recently and my eyes were not appreciative. If you can still handle the Diablo2 game and/or engine... you might take a look here:

Its not an exact recreation, but from what I remember, its not bad either. I have no problems with the Diablo2 game, but 1 is too dated in a few major gameplay and visual areas for me to stick with it for too long.

Nothing to do with the looks, it's the gameplay. Loot collecting with almost no story... not my bag of cookies anymore.
I'm a loot whore, namely in games like Guild Wars, Terraria, and Torchlight.
i read lost whore for a second... i could have helped if that was the case.

Morrowind is wonderful for combining magics in new and interesting ways. Like an axe that casts Soul Trap and Bound Axe on strike. Second hit kills almost anything and traps its soul. You can also collect souls as loot.

karacho: best loot rpg is propably diablo 2
Only someone who's not had the pleasure of playing Titan Quest would say this.

Ubivis: Best loot = Superhero League of Hoboken :)
I still have that game on 3.5" disk around here somewhere. I loved it.

Too bad that no computer I have owned in the past 6 years or so has had a floppy drive.

TheEnigmaticT: I've been having a lot of fun with Torchlight, which I picked up from Steam during the recent Summer madness. Tons of rootin' tootin' lootin' there.

Slump: Damn straight. I've been playing Torchlight off and on since it's release and I can honestly say I really only do so because of it's loot system. It's the main thing torchlight has going for it. Heck, even Diablo II and Diablo at least had some multiplayer and some cinematics to go along with loot. Torchlight is just a simple loot fest and love it.
Yeah but most of the loot is so damned bad. I mean I packrat the set items like everyone else, but most of those blow too.
