gameon: I don't understand how it could happen. But i guess if Atari and Take 2 can have money problems, so can THQ.

kodeen: The biggest issue was Udraw, which was a hardware accessory they tried to release for all the platforms. They invested heavily in it and it tanked badly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UDraw_GameTablet

After that, it's just been that sales hasn't been where they need to be, especially for Darksiders 2. It was expensive to make, expensive to advertise and they just didn't make the money back on that.
Ouch. That sounds like a waste of money.

StingingVelvet: Oh come on now, you and I might not see the wisdom in it but avoiding all DRM and being disappointed a DRM free website switches to using DRM is not "extremism."

I corrected a stupid spelling mistake.

Kristian: Yep that post shows that I am not somekind of DRM free only wacko, that you guys are so desperately trying to make me into.
I am a DRM-free wacko and you've still managed to post some stuff that I think is a little crazy. ;)
I personally think, the wrong with this bundle isn´t being windows only platform, steam based, internet activated, non-indie....maybe go as far as say (though I don´t agree with obtrusive DRM) not even the DRM.......but.......the wrong lies in such bundle coming from a company that was in favour of laws as SOPA, to stop internet freedom and democracy.
Part of the income from some bundles were donated to the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) which was against SOPA and all things that endanger freedom, and now, the income from this will support a pro-SOPA, it seems kinda wrong isn´t it?

Though it could be thought as: "They are accepting some evil as long as it helps fund the good (the charities of choice)".

http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/06/sopa-list-esa/

I can cope with hassling ways the vendors try to make their products feel secure, ultimately I can either endure it or not buy it................BUT................this is like choosing with your money......all I have to say is one has to choose righteously, and that is something that everyone should think about in their own.

I think it is the same?

"I am actually a supporter of Steamworks, it is the ONLY form of DRM I will ever except. But not in connection with a bundle where DRM free is one main selling points Given that I have a Linux laptop as well and that Humble Bundle has cross-platform support as one of its other major selling points(Look at how Linux users have consistently had the highest average donations) I CAN NOT and WILL NOT support this extreme betrayal. I have not yet decided about boycotting vs getting a bundle but giving 100% of the money to charity"

Such as?

Edit:

This was to SirPrimalform.

StingingVelvet: This shit is still all on them though. Expecting Darksiders 2 to sell more than 2 million copies at full price was stupid. Investing in Udraw was stupid. Capitalism works when companies doing stupid things go out of business.
No argument here about that. I'm not even worried about THQ's future, I'm just not convinced that this bundle means that HIB has lost their soul.

Oh...

The unconditional support of this bundle and complete inability to see how this could lead to anything negative by a lot of people here is really baffling me.

It's all about preferences. The vast majority of people do not care about Linux and don't consider Steam to be bad DRM. You're pissing into the wind.

I haven't supported this bundle, as i haven't bought it. And the drm only bundle could lead to more drm bundles.

I have the ability to see that. But i am happy with what i have on GOG and from various bundles i've bought in the past. So there's not much to worry about.
hah, IndieGala.com is the $10 top donor/purchaser.

Don't you see how this could hurt future HIB's?

Thats exactly what i said.

But there's nothing i can do or say that will influence/change what they do. I will just pick the right options for myself. If they don't have what i want it's their loss. It's not worth getting worked up about.
