Kristian: I am actually a supporter of Steamworks, it is the ONLY form of DRM I will ever except. But not in connection with a bundle where DRM free is one main selling points Given that I have a Linux laptop as well and that Humble Bundle has cross-platform support as one of its other major selling points(Look at how Linux users have consistently had the highest average donations) I CAN NOT and WILL NOT support this extreme betrayal. I have not yet decided about boycotting vs getting a bundle but giving 100% of the money to charity.
If that how you feel, then you should give the money directly to a charity you like and do not get this bundle at all

if not you are saying "I do not like what you are doing, but I will get it anyway"... which is not very good.

No this will take that clout down to 0. Other companies will be able to point to THQ as an example and demand that they get the same treatment and the Humble guys will have NO counter in that case.

Humble Bundle guys: "Would you like to be this bundle we are doing?"
Devs: "Sounds interesting"
Humble Bundle: "All you have to do is to provide us with DRM free versions of your game and either port them to Mac and Linux or allow us to do that"
Devs: "No way, we will provide Steam keys for Windows just like you did with THQ"
Humble Bundle guys: "Uhm...."

Just got my confirmation e-mail, hours after placing the order. Their servers must be taking quite a beating.

Not complaining, just mentioning it in case anyone else experiences the same problem.

Except they are large enough to be in position to demand it from indie developers? No one, except maybe some other AAA company will get same treatment. Ever. Don't worry too much about it.

amok: quite a lot of these games are Steamworks exclusive, and it will take a lot of resources to get them untangled (even if possible) which THQ at the moment do not have.
And that's what developers get for going in bed with Valve, now they are shackled forever to them. I have always been saying it, Steam is not PC gaming, it's console gaming on PC hardware.

whoa 220k bundles sold already. With the new average of 5.60 it makes it $1.2 million.

IronStar: Except they are large enough to be in position to demand it from indie developers? No one, except maybe some other AAA company will get same treatment. Ever. Don't worry too much about it.
I am doubtful that is limited to AAA companies. But lets say it is, before this some of those may have relented after negotiations but now they NEVER will.

I have to be more careful about the Humble Bundles in the future. Bought the THQ bundle, before I saw that it isn't DRM-free and that the games can only be acquired using Steam.

Of course they said so on the front page, but I acted carefree and didn't read it because I thought DRM-free is one of their core-principles. Seems I was wrong.

Hope the soundtracks are worth the money...

Yeah most of indie developers would probably kill to be fatured on HIB. There are only few that have games as well known as the HIB initiative.

They will immediatly counter that all those sales where just because those where AAA games(if they are an indie) with DRM and point to all the other less sucessfull bundle's as evidence.
