I thought this was a joke when I checked the forum on my lunch break. I don't know if this is hilarious or sad, or both.

Also couldn't they have spent a bit of time to get steam free exes for the games? Or maybe the bandwidth costs would have been too much from people getting them off humble's site.

I'll still get this anyways. I'll set it to all go to THQ as its obvious they are in desperate need of cash.

Leroux: If they just want to be known as another one of these bundle with incredibly cheap games (steam codes for $1, yay!), so be it. But I don't need Humbe Bundle to be reminded of charity, and I don't think charity is their top priority either, and neither that of most customers.
Of course the top priority of the customers isn't the charity. but as you can see from the sales the top priority isn't drm free either. The top priority of the customers is to get a shitload of games for cheap
And they just passed 1 million $$$, in less then 5 hours.

Wishbone: What the hell? Did Humble Bundle just throw all their software principles out the window? Steam-only and Windows-only? What happened?
I guess the Humble Bundle people were having Indie Gala-envy...

Aningan: I like DRM free, you like DRM free... we're on GOG.com, big surprise!
We are upset because HIB guys made us believe they like DRM-free too.

The humble guys like drm free. THQ doesn't. It's up to the developer to provide the DRM-free thing.

This is damn good bundle, if we talk about games. It's not surprising.

The thing is, it was humble guys who forced some devs to provide DRM-free games.

They (HIB guys) could say no.

This removes all reasons to buy stuff from Humble Bundle rather than other bundles or Steam or your average retailer. DRM free, cross-platform games were the Humble Bundle's specialty. Now their name on something means NOTHING, NOTHING at all. There is no difference between what they did and GOG offering a game with DRM.
I'm not convinced this is going to effect the overall mission of HiB at all. This is probably how THQ wanted it and it's fine by me, it get's HiB more exposure for sure which means more people buying bundles in the future which is good for anything.

Just because they are doing this THQ bundle doesn't mean they are back treading on what their ant-DRM stance... it just means they took this particular deal, not that it's going to effect all the future ones.

Until I see differently I'm assuming this is a win win, if anything I'm mad at THQ for not offering DRM free versions. Not HiB for making the bundle available.

Agreed. I think it's a one-time thing to help THQ out. But I certainly agree with the concerns for what it could mean down the road in case it's not a one-time thing.

Principles over money? I thought you were older than me.

No doubt about it. I just didn't know that this was what Wolfire had in mind when they founded the Humble Bundle, to provide people with a shitload of games for cheap.
Wow...so THQ is in some deep sh*t, if they decide to raise money though a bundle.

You shouldn't be too harsh on the HiB. THQ only chose them as the most popular bundle store there is.
