Maybe you just weren't there or you weren't paying attention, but in the beginning they were very much about the DRM-free.

Well perhaps you can understand that it's the change in principles that people are upset about. Just because you didn't care, doesn't change the fact that it was obviously a strong part of Humble Bundle's identity to a lot of people.

sad for me that it's not drm free and not available for mac. but if you don't care about such things it looks like a great deal.

The Saints Row The Third have ton of DLC. I bought Complete Edition last week in sale for 9.99 and my Steam account lists 17 DLC. So with this one, they certainly want to encourage people to buy DLC later.

I just gave them a few bucks and put all of it towards charity. If bundle upsets you guys then just don't give THQ the money, it literally lets you do that for once instead of on principle.

This number proves nothing apart from the fact that 50 million honest people were given no choice whatsoever. With the majority of big budget releases shoving Valve's DRM down everyone's throat, it's hard for an average (non-pirating) Joe not to become a Steam user.

Personally, I don't really care, as I wouldn't have been interested in these games either way, with or without DRM and no matter how cheap. I'm not upset, I'm just a little sad and disillusioned to see them throw away part of their integrity and credibility. The DRM-free installers and cross-platform support might not have been the only features of the Humble Bundle, but they were the most distinctive and most unique ones. They made Humble Bundle look special. It might not necessarily afffect their financial success that they're giving that up as a principle now, but it will probably affect the amount of goodwill towards them.

If they just want to be known as another one of these bundle with incredibly cheap games (steam codes for $1, yay!), so be it. But I don't need Humbe Bundle to be reminded of charity, and I don't think charity is their top priority either, and neither that of most customers. If I want to give my money to charity, I'm better off deciding for myself which organization should get it. IMO the charity part is just positive PR for Wolfire and it's attracting customers by making spending money on games feel charitable, and therefor it's profitable.

Anyway, even if the DRM-free part would be irrelevant, there'd still be the fact that this isn't about "supporting indie games" anymore.

aye, with the current average they will reach the million at around 181k bundles, they have now 168k, the bundle has been up for 4 hours, it makes it 42k bundles per hour. There are 313 hours left, which with the current projections will make it 13.104.000 bundles sold. At the current average it will mean $72.465.120.
