SLP2000: I suggest you request your money back. That would show them DRM-free is important for some of us.
It will be very difficult as it is mentioned three times on the page, included in the big red banner at the top. You can not claim being miss sold a product if you are to lazy to read the description. They do not exactly hide the fact that his bundle is steam only.

Paid $1 to get the one game I didn't own already (Tales of Valor) and the soundtracks. Gave it all to charity as an extra fuck you. Told them on twitter why I paid only a dollar.

Annoying I didn't get the Saint's Row soundtrack.

kalirion: Relax, the numbered Humble Indie Bundles will remain DRM free.
Right, and if GOG released a game with DRM, would you be going "relax, future releases will be DRM-free"?
So GOG is the last man standing?

I think the Humble Indie Bundles will be fine. Yea, this THQ bundle is an aberration from Humble's DRM-free tone, but I sort of think of it as an additional bundle they did between their regular indie ones.

I'm not excusing it, but I think the dust will settle.

That banner wasn't there at the start, they added it after the angry emails started pouring in.

GOG already has games with multiplayer keys, does it not?
The thing you need to bear in mind here is that retail disc versions of RF Armageddon, Metro 2033 & SR3 have always required Steam. So regardless you are stuck with Steam (ties to a Steam account) on these titles and no doubt they will probably require a lot more work to remove all the Steam stuff etc

Darksiders and also CoH were just keycode activations if bought at retail on first install, so they could have done something with at least those 2 games.

Well I see that as distinct from DRM, but I understand if you feel differently about that.

Even without the banner it is stated twice on the page that this is steam only...

(edit - by the way - because of the picture I now know your name and can start stalking you... are you OK with this?)

Previous games in the HIB were Steam only before hand. It's not that hard to remove Steam, I assume you know pirates do it on day one all the damn time.

True, but the layout of the page is the same as all other recent ones. The bit where it says Steam only is exactly where it normally says DRM-free. I'd forgive people for not realising they'd changed that text.

You can stalk me a bit if you like, it's flattering. :P

But Company of heroes has for example cd key based multiplayer. You even have to create an account on THQ servers providing all cd keys to play multiplayer.

And that's not so easy to remove.

No one with any logical sense considers multiplayer stuff to have anything to do with DRM or the principles involved.
Well, this is the biggest missed opportunity of the century. THQ had the greatest scope possible to drag themselves out of the mud but no, they've proved that there is a good fucking reason why they are going down the plughole.

Any respect I had for the HIB and Wolfire has also now evaporated.

I'm really not sure what the success is attributable to, but my guess is key farmers, given the nature of the games. Expect the Steam Trading forums to be flooded with these keys.

If it is actually because everyone is sucking St. Gabe's cock, then that only proves to me that my decision to quit PC gaming was right. As I said in my rant thread before, I'm done with PC gaming, and this hasn't changed.
