Kristian: The problem with the data argument is that so far except for Humble Indie Bundle V(and even that is still subject to change) this bundle has been by far the most successful one financially and I am sure Humble Bundle will want to replicate that be offering future DRMed, single platform bundles and developers will know that and some of them will wait for those to come around.
I understand what you mean, but think like this - every Humble Bundle until now has also had windows versions and steam keys. If there were not DRM-free, Linux and Mac versions, they would only have sold less.

So, we won't see Linux and Mac (and DRM-free) parts on a pie chart for this bundle. But would their presence have lessened their sales? Not at all, because the Steam keys would still be there. Why, then, is this bundle still their best seller?

And there is only one answer: it's because these games are *not* indie. Had they been, this bundle would certainly be a failure comparing to the previous ones, considering the size of the Mac and Linux portions on the charts. It's just that commercial games with a big publisher behind their production values have a much wider appeal than indies.

It is also this fact that put THQ in a bargaining position to avoid making ports and DRM-free versions for Humble Bundle. Indie developers do not have this advantage. For THQ, the Humble Bundle was an option. They could have just dealt with Steam directly, offering a bundle for perhaps a fixed, but cheap price. For indie devs, Humble Bundle means fame and fortune they won't get anywhere else - it is lucrative for them to abide by HIB's rules. THQ was powerful enough to bend them, but don't expect that from just anyone.

They should have started with this. I don't think it will attract more people (as just about everybody already has it). but it would have pushed the average if added earlier.
damn, and I spent about 20£ maybe 6 months ago to get the DoW collection retail >.< now to decide whether to redeem or give away.

You're right - and I find it odd they didn't give us the vanilla edition and pick up a few sales on the expansions like they did with Titty Quest. Maybe they're trying to break the $5m barrier?

THis GOTY does NOT include Winter Assault, Dark Crusade or Soulstorm.

It all makes sense now, thanks. As you can tell I don't know much about WH, although DoW was on my wishlist so I'm well chuffed with this (even if it leaves my wallet open to further abuse :P)
Yay a game I don't own.

I'll never play it, but whatever, I got a game out of this thing after all.
Still won't break the HIB5 record.
