EC-: No, but don't hesitate to buy something if it tickles your fancy. The purchases are still operational and will tie into your Humble account if you have one, and carry over to the store.
Guess what I just did? The actual purchase process was very slick and worked really fast. You can even avoid connecting the unique download page to your account (just like with the bundles). The account page is still a bit "beta" but that was to be expected.
And now for the true beauty. The game I bought was A Virus Named Tom. I noticed this today on the Steam start page and was just about to buy it. But I was currently in Sweden (my IP), so I didn't bother (can't buy outside Germany). Then, while looking at this thread I noticed that the game was also available on the HiB store. Bam, game bought.
Now, I've got the best deal for the devs, got a Steam key from the deal, downloading it through the Steam servers so that HiB doesn't have to cover the bandwidth. Be-au-ti-ful!
Leroux: At the moment I'm under the impression it's more of a long-term (side?) project, expanding on what they already do, not a triumphant opening of a brand new indie store that will set out to conquer the market (although it would certainly have the potential, I'm just not sure how interested the supposedly small team behind this really is.)
It is already perfect for people like me (as long as the thread keeps up to date). I usually notice indies on Steam and here I can buy them with pretty much only benefits. (Steam key, DRM free, most money to the devs, dollar prices). I love it!Post edited August 03, 2012 by SimonG
