Zacron: So, the general feeling that I am getting from this thread is that, even though these games are currently the cheapest they have EVER been, unless you got that Amazon super deal, and even though I got these games at above the BTA price, I STILL overpaid? I find it hard to believe that these games are that bad without DLC. I mean, why do games get DLC in the first place? Because they deserve them. If I get 1 single hour out of all of these games combined, then they are paid for, in my opinion.
I wouldn't say they are bad without the DLC. I've only played CK2, and when I bought it I got an amazing deal at Amazon that included CK1 and CK2 with all the DLC that was available at the time. So, I can't say how it is without. My understanding of the major DLC is patches enable the mechanics introduced to everyone, but to play as a Viking for example, you would need the Old Gods DLC.

keeveek: Crusader Kings 2 is horrible without DLCs. And I don't mean cosmetic DLCs, but the game content DLCs.

What is even worse, on the course of upgrading the game, people who don't own any DLCs have even lesser game than before!

I wonder how that would hold up in court - somebody bought CK2 and was playing the Byzantine empire, his favourite nation. But when the Legacy of Rome DLC came out, he can't play as Byzantine empire AT ALL, unless he buys an expansion.

Over a course of time, they disabled some options for him and require him to pay for them.

CK2 without major DLCs is barebones.

keeveek: And what about Paradox classics on GOG? :P
It's still very playable, much more so than other PDS titles as the general game features are kept in patches, you can play as most western nations for their full experience. Only merchant republic, byzantine empire and muslim nations really need the expansion pack and the earlier and alternate timeline might as well be different scenarios.
Has anyone played Dungeonland? Is it really, really fun? I'm a sucker for Paradox games. They just do a really good job at making a pile of suck, but making it awesome. I don't know how or why, but it's what they do. Anyway, I have all the games that interest me already except Dungeonland.

I was wondering, if anyone knows:

A) can it be 1v1? One guy is the bad guy, one is the good guy?
B) Is it really really fun?
C) Does it have drop-in drop-out multiplayer so you don't need a buddy to play with?

Thanks!

You're kidding. Right?
I paid six dollars, even if I already own Magicka and wasn't all that interested in CK2, but then I downloaded the game's soundtrack and boy, I'm a sucker for orchestral and choral music. I'm loving the soundtrack enough to give the game a shot.

park_84: And, especially now after bundles like the EA one, wouldn't it pay off just only considering the exposure? I guess that the former HB user could be more aware of GOG, both services share(d) some common points, but the last bundles endorsed by some big names must have drawn many new users to HB, its next newsletters will be sent to more and more people that might not know about you. GOG is already doing different, maybe you could take benefit of its user base and let them know about that.
TBH, for GOG.com it would be better to do The Humble Witcher Bundle with only GOG keys provided...

Immoli: You're kidding. Right?
Nope. Before they released Legacy of Rome DLC, you could play Byzantine empire. But it played just as any other country. They released the DLC that really changes the way you control this nation. But to play as Byzantine empire now, you have to buy Legacy of rome DLC.

There is also Republic DLC, but I don't know if you were able to play the reoublics before the DLC, probably not. and sword of islam gives you an opportunity to play as Muslim, but that wasn't avaible before anyway.

But this Byzantine empire thing is pretty shady. It's like you buy some software and then you loose some of the funcionality, because they expanded it, and now you have to pay for it extra.

For me, it is the same reason I haven't bought Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon from GOG. Because they lack the expansion packs. Sure the games are worth something even without, but still.

Think of it this way: if you like the games, you most probably want the missing DLC for them (which will raise the price of the bundle quite a bit). If you don't like the games... well, why did you buy them at all?

I guess this time I am voting also against such "baiting" tactics. This is a bit like the free-to-play model where the game is only "kinda free". This bundle is only "kinda cheap" without the DLC.

TheEnigmaticT: Personally? I'd love to have 'em. I have no idea where we are in negotiations, though. Insert the usual TET speech about "we are constantly in talks with everybody in the industry about all topics at all times" here. ;)

keeveek: The last update about it on Paradox forums was over a year ago ;-(
I got an impression from it that Paradox simply wants GOG to sell Steam keys for Paradox games, and that's that. No wonder the negotiations are not proceeding.

011284mm: 2 - Vocal? I am not too sure. Yes people who want DRM-free games are noisy here, but are they really that noisy elsewhere? I check Groupees chat, Desura and IGS forums. There is the odd bit, but not really that much.

tomimt: From what I've followed Kickstarter projects anti-DRM people are perhaps the most vocal ones, even more so than Linux people. On some cases they are the same people though. From what I've seen both overestimate their relevancy on a large scale, on small scale projects they might be a signifacnt factor, but the bigger the projects get, the smaller their signifigance drops.

Disclaimer: I don't have anything against Linux people or anti-DRM peoplem this is just a personal observation I've done. Heck, If I'd have something against anti-DRM movement I wouldn't be a customer at GOG.
I am not going to say anything about Kickstarted as I have only broused the pages a few times there. Yet it would make sense for people to be very vocal about both Linux and DRM-free in that situation as they are actually ploughing money into the games development.

Lets face it, if I said to you that I would like you to give me $100 for a stake in my game you would ask what is in it for you. You might well be looking at it and saying "I will get no financial comback, so I want my game for me to use forever, where ever."
So Linux users want a copy they can play right out the gates without any of the extra work that needs to be done sometimes and people who want to play away from the internet or without extra crap-ware on their machines will argue for DRM-free.
People will fight for what they want, and if you ask them for money to do it, expect them to shout even louder.

It's an excellent co-op game... The bots sucked last time I played. You can join other people online, but playing with friends and voice communication is the way to go, IMO.
Anybody?

Sorry, no idea. It never struck me as something I'd be particularly interested in. I'm still sinking SG points into the stray giveaway, though XD

Best I could do for you.
It is on Steam, so I am passing up on this. It does look good though.

Sadly that video makes it look a little too multiplayer focused for me - not that it matters, I remembered shortly before finding your replies I can't purchase from humble these days as my bank wont allow me to pay via paypal or any of the other options.

Meh, not much of a loss, really. The lack of DLCs really sours the milk on this one, and I don't think Leviathan alone is worth it.
