Glad to see The White Birch scoring so high, that would be my top pick, too. Other than that, and maybe Black Lake, I find it really hard to choose though ...

Milgrim is funny, but I don't know if the idea is good enough for a whole commercial game. It seems more like a joke game, a bit like Mari0. Zumbi Chained could be cool not so much because of the gameplay concept but because of its unusual setting and themes (Brazil, capoeira). But who knows how it would turn out in the end. Bragging & Fighting sounds like it could be either hilarious or boring, and personally I prefer single player games. I can imagine Spacebase and The Knockover becoming solid games, but given my usual experience with the genre, I probably wouldn't enjoy them for long. Turk? Kaiju Piledriver? Really tough choice ...

I'm actually against this bundle...

Prototypes shouldn't be sold separately but added ash extra-content to already existing games ... Unless I missunderstood the bundle.

They are selling Prototypes, right ???

They are creating prototypes, but they're not selling them. All donations go to charity.

100% goes to the charity ? So we can't choose what to give to the developpers or the platform like we could previously ?
I'm scratching my head over the part where it says Steam keys are included.

Looks like I was wrong, actually. Not all donations go to charity. You can split your contribution between Double Fine, Child's Play and Humble Tip. I just assumed that things would be the same as during the Humble Bundle Mojam.

It's more about the event than about selling games or prototypes: Everyone who pays a minimum of $1 can throw in their vote for their four favorite game ideas and also decide how much money they want to donate to Child' Play, HIB or Double Fine in order to support them. You'll get to participate in an event they usually do behind closed doors, get to watch videos about the creative process, and as a bonus get to play the prototypes and see what game developers can usually come up with in 2-3 weeks and e.g. how the crude prototype of Costume Quest looked when they decided to make a full game out of that idea.

The appeal is really more for a rather limited audience of Double Fine fans or people interested in how ideas evolve into games (or prototypes first, that is). Don't expect to get cool games, it's more the thought that you're involved in this process and get to learn about how a developer team works. And it's about donating money and getting extras as a thank you, not so much about paying for prototypes.

So it's more of an "original" experience and participating/watching something coming to fruit...
A close and personal insight to the world of gaming we love so much ?

That's how I understand it. Of course it's also PR for Double Fine. ;)

That's pretty much what the last one was like, Leroux describes it well. If it's the same as Mojam, don't expect that fruit to be edible.

amok: New Game Jam, this time with Tim Schafer and Double Fine.

You can contribute and vote on a game idea. There are 23 game ideas, each of them by a Double Fine employee. After 1 week Double Fine will make prototypes out of the top 4 voted ideas.

They will live-stream the creation of the prototypes (about 2-3 weeks) and you will get the 4 prototypes made. (+ steam keys if there will be any)

If you contribute more than $1 you also get Happy Song Prototype and Costume Quest Prototype.

Proceedings go to Child's Play.

How the hell does a mastermind like Schaeffer, making strange yet good games since I was fourteen years old, have to resort to begging for support?

Now I know what happened to Bela Legosi but he was irrationally mad where as Schaeffer is still rational so it's not like he spent his fortune safe-guarding his house from extraterrestrial hookers.
There were some nice pitches, but nothing that really blew me away.

Autonomous seemed nice and interesting, but it just was a little bit too vague to really grab my interest - I couldn't really imagine what the final product would look like.

Black Lake and The White Birch would probably be good, but just a little bit too "artsy" - and I think, too many indie games desperately try to look as intellectual and incomprehensible as possible, so I kind of developed a little bit of an aversion to such games.

Bragging & Fighting and Zumbi Chained sound like really good ideas, and would probably be very funny (Bragging & Fighting) and/or interesting (themes and styles of Zumbi Chained) - I'm just not a big fan of multiplayer games.
(But I want a board game version of Bragging & Fighting - the idea is just genius).

Then I saw Milgrim, which just blew me away. Such a simple idea, but I loved it, because I love Mario and I love Tower Defense, and this combines both in an epic burrito? Yes, please!

Hack n' Slash sounds also very cool, and I'm glad to see it at the top -definitly wanna play this.

So yeah, I'm probably just a Nintendo geek.

No, there are sliders for Double Fine and Humble Tip too. I sent all of it to charity though, I don't feel this is something DF or Humble Inc. should be making money on really.

EDIT: Sorry, just saw your later post.

He's not begging for support, he just continues creating buzz around his studio, raising further awareness of gamers that it exists and that it's alive and kicking (maybe even expanding?), while at the same time entertaining Double Fine's fanbase. It's more like a promo action: mastermind or not - noone says no to getting more attention for their work.

I agree; if I decide to participate, I wouldn't send any money to DF either, as they already get the promotion and are just doing what they always do, only this time in public. I think I wouldn't have a problem with supporting Humble Inc. though, seeing that they usually get the short end of the stick from me in the regular bundles.

So THIS is what Tim meant when he said in the DFA pitch video that he would show us how the sausage is made!
