SimonG: And Borderlands can't be activated? Hmmm... I got it on my account.
So do I - thanks to VPN ;)

grynn: I own all the games except Riptide and Sacred 2 :D, I won't pay $25 for Riptide but should I get tier 1 just for Sacred 2?
yes.

The camera is horrendous, but if you can live with I am enjoying it so far.

I'd get it for the Blind Guardian soundtracks :).
ah there was a Blind Guardian concert in that game right :) Alright I'm sold.

So was I. I just hope I won't regret that I've BTA. So far I'm not impressed, but I hope the extras from next week (Risen) will be worth it.

SimonG: Any news on actual fixes for the game?
avatar
jamyskis: Official? I don't think so. The game on Steam still has the THQ logo, and it still runs a tad fast.

Apparently, the PowerTools mod fixes the speed issue, although doesn't seem to work for me.
About Saints Row 2 speed issue fixes. I wish I had the links here. Anyway, the story so far from my point of view (IIRC):

1. It is the "Gentlemen's Mod" or somesuch which is supposed to be installed to fix the speed issue. I don't recall if "Powertools" was the same thing, or used to install that mod.

2. There is another user patch to test in the game whether you have the speed issue at all, and how bad. In that test you drive a road straight for some time very slowly, and you have to time with a stopwatch how long it takes. If it takes longer or less than around 1 min 40 sec or so, then you are running the game too fast or slow.

I first thought I don't have the problem as playing the game felt fine to me, but running that test revealed for me that I still do, slightly.

3. The maker of the fix/mod also reported that apparently the issue does not occur at all in Windows 8, only in Windows 7 and sometimes Vista.

However, in the end my findings were different. I had exactly the same speed issue in both Windows 7 and 8 (on the same machine, as I have installed both side by side), so from my point of view using Windows 8 doesn't apparently fix it. That would have sounded quite odd anyway. So I have to disagree with them that the issue does not exist at all in Windows 8.

What is more, installing the fix (and modifying the value to slow down or speed up the game to correct speed) worked for me only in Windows 7, I was able to make it so that the speedrun test takes the time it is supposed to take. On Windows 8, doing the same didn't change anything, I still had the same slight speed issue.

For me the speed issue wouldn't matter otherwise, but I heard there may be some timed missions which become impossible, as the timer goes faster than it is supposed to, or something like that. So I guess one should try to fix the timer issue, before starting to play the game.

So I guess I'll be playing SR2 on my Win7 partition, as it is fixed there. I guess the results may be different on other systems, this is just my input.

The Gentlemen of the Row, not the Steelport one. Fixed pretty much everything for me, except the sometimes floating props in cutscenes and the pretty shitty drawing with most cars.

I kid, not drawing, just driving.

I forget, if you buy the lowest tier before any extras are added, do you get the extras when they are added? I think so, but want to confirm.

Thanks.

You usually get the extras only if you BTA. That's how it worked in the past anyway. Or so I remember..

By the way, the SR3 soundtrack doesn't even have the main theme: http://youtu.be/KXWkFhf3rqM

I think that only applies once the extras have been revealed.

I always BTA so I don't know for sure. Also I wonder if you pay $1 and then up to BTA, do you have to pay only the difference or buy the whole thing again to get the BTA bonuses.

Once the further boni are revealed, you only get them by beating the average. If you bought the bundle before they are revealed, you always get them; it doesn't matter how much you paid.
