wolfsrain: They did that with all the big publishers bundles. One major exception was Bohemia Interactive bundle that offered not only one key per game, but also bonuses, which was something that never happened before on a weekly bundle.

OldFatGuy: Wouldn't the Sid Meiers collection (Take 2) be considered a big publisher?? I got that one (twice actually) and each individual game came with it's own link. I already didn't like that they changed from keys to links, as one gift was lost forever because of it (Civ IV Complete) and now this???

No, I won't be buying any further bundles there.
Was the warning in bright red that says "Please Note: These games are not redeemable separately and are only available via Steam. Most are Windows only! " not enough for you?
To anyone who has chosen to buy this bundle, can you comment on how the games are grouped under each key (as someone mentioned there were four)? It might be handy for people who are looking to gift some games despite this inflexible format.

1)Risen 2: Dark Waters, Sacred 2: Gold Edition, Saints Row 2, and Saints Row: The Third

2)Dead Island GOTY and Saints Row: The Third - The Full DLC Package

3)Metro 2033, Risen, and Sacred Citadel

4)Dead Island Riptide - Complete.

But when you redeem one pack the page automatically redeem the rest to the same account...

cmdr_flashheart: Dammit, I was hoping for a repeat of this
http://blog.humblebundle.com/post/61684240677/get-an-ego-boost-with-this-weeks-humble-weekly-sale

But it's a weekly sale and not a humble bundle. Losing out on that still haunts me *tear*

Stooner: I agree, it would be really nice. But the SuperBox goes on sale sometimes, so keep an eye on that!
Thanks, I had no idea that even existed! Waitlisted.

Oh whaaat? Yeesh, that's not very nice...

JMich: The list of bundles released can be found in Wikipedia btw. 48 regular ones (not only games though), 54 weekly ones.
Thanks for this list. I've never bought a Humble bundle and scrolling through that list I know why. They just don't offer the type of games I typically play and of the few that they do I already own them. So I can ignore this latest batch of deals too.

You bet, it's plenty to ensure I won't be purchasing there. Thanks.
avatar
Stooner: There isn't really a pattern to that. Origin was separated too.
avatar
OldFatGuy: Is there any way to know before you buy?
Yes, *usually* it's written :

for the Deep Silver Bundle it's written just above the amount you want to pay :

"Please Note: These games are not redeemable separately and are only available via Steam. Most are Windows only!"
Its also repeats after repeats. Have Humble run out of ideas or need the money or something ?

johnnygoging: bundle overload.

I think this may put pressure on other bundlers and they might up their game.

but yeah. daily bundles. wow.
Its a bit oversaturated already. Look at IG's multiple bundles as well as the master bundlers BundleCrap...er BundleStars...

It stinks of desperation to be honest. I think the mainstream publishers only intended the bundle thing to be a temporary measure - exploiting dead and otherwise unviable IPs for easy PR. Likewise, indie developers also saw it as a means to get sales from an otherwise underperforming market.

Humble's image has been pretty much destroyed this past year or so - no longer are they the knight in shining armour here to save indies and encourage respect in the market. They're now simply another storefront whose sole purpose is to maximise profit, and for gamers, it's become a place for cheap Steam keys rather than a place you can actively support indie devs.

So it really wouldn't surprise me if the mainstream industry and the indie sector have both lost interest. Average prices from buyers have come tumbling down (so badly that the weeklies now have to enforce artificial BTA limits) and the only thing it does now is cannibalise potential markets.

I actually blame them and starting to blame Bundlestars -- have u seen how many friggin bundles these guys have churned out recently (10 at last count...and good number arent even indie..)???.. Its a really sad situation in some ways (yeah great for people looking for el cheapo games.. but theres also the flipside)...

Impaler26: You'll get the cut "gewaltgeminderte Version" of course. But i think there are uncut patches that work with the Steam versions of the Saints Row games. I'll have to search for them too.
avatar
simonm197: damn it... thx for your reply
would have been a great gift for a good friend of mine :(
I'm quite sure that it's the uncut versions. I bought this very same bundle some time ago (half a year? can't quite remember) when it was up on humble bundle for thew first time. The Steam keys I got then were definitely the uncut versions. Also: if Steam/Publisher/Humble/whoever would force the regionally restricted/cut version on the player, you would'nt be able to get the Dead Island games at all (since they aren't available on Steam for germans). Guess what? The shitstorm that would break loose over Humble would swallow them alive if they tempted their costomers to beat the average or pay 9$ to get the Dead Island games just to find out that those games aren't redeemable on Steam. BUT: Very strange things can happen on the internet, so just 99% sure.

JMich: Ah, Dead Island Riptide. As I recall (haven't played it), there are character classes (or archetypes) in that game, so even though you can play by yourself, having a party may make things easier. A tank to keep the zombies on himself, some damage dealers to take them out etc. First Dead Island was playable offline, I think Riptide is as well.
avatar
OldFatGuy: Thank you, I couldn't find requirements at Humble Bundle, and to be honest, I'm unclear on whether Steam lists them plainly enough when a game is fully on-line, that's why I was asking. I have trouble with this often, and wish I knew what to look for. It seems like it should be listed in big, bold, print to me, but obviously that's just my opinion. I am just not at all interested in any game that requires one to be online in order to play it.
Both Dead Island games can be played "offline". Well you still have to go through steam, so there's that, but you can switch the game mode to local, which will get rid off the "angrygamer19222 is nearby, wanna join?" messages that the game does, to automagically pair you into co-op with random people.
avatar
OldFatGuy: Damn why do consumers put up with so much when they have all the power???
Consumers have the power to buy or not to buy. In this case, to buy 9 games for (currently) $6.30, even if only 3 are usable, or wait for another sale and buy the particular 3 games for $10 (or whatever).

avatar
GastonArg: But when you redeem one pack the page automatically redeem the rest to the same account...
Looks to me like a bug, which should be reported to Humble Bundle. This wasn't the case when I redeemed in the past. (Not this particular bundle, I haven't bought it.)

That's only in your view. In my view they have gone from strenght to strenght, and is today one of the best digital games sellers out there. I get almost all my indes there now, which they also tends to give me DRM free + Steam (best of both worlds) while I know that I also give back the most % to developers and they give a bit to charities. To me Humble is still the perfect win-win-win situation.
