Sinizine: You only overpayed 9 bucks if you're the type of skeevy loser that pays 1 cent for these things, which I'd hope nobody around here is.

keeveek: I couldn't pay more to the company that treats me like a fool.

They clearly don't know what pre-orders are supposed to be...
But you didn't preorder it.

keeveek: Leroux, the problem is, you haven't saved that 1 dollar. You overpayed 8.98 for botanicula itself

(as you may pay 0.01 and get it drm free with soundtrack and two extra games)
So you think the game's worthless and everyone who pre-ordered it just wanted to get their greedy hands on a piece of junk without any thought of supporting GOG or the developers? If anyone thought the game was not worth $8.99 and the devs did not deserve to be payed for it, why the hell would they have pre-ordered it?

Maybe I could spend $0.01 on it now, but I definitely will buy it for the full price instead, I just haven't decided yet whether my money goes to GOG & Amanita or HIB/Charity/Amanita, or all of teh above.

And I didn't buy it on HB
I find it much more likely that the HIB deal was struck after the general pre-order one, especially if you take into account that everywhere else you only get a demo soundtrack.

In the end, I'm not raging; I was expecting other stores to undercut prices, and heck, I actually got it off of the devs website because it was a better deal than GOG and everything else.

Yes, I get it, you love GOG, and it sucks if you actually pre-ordered, but such is the magic of a free market.
I agree with people, this is a pretty dirty move. If I had pre-ordered the game, I would be more than a little bit angry with the devs for doing this. Now I'm just annoyed with them.

As I see pre-orders idea, it should be "you can get the lowest price possible before the game premiere"

They fooled lots of people.

Thiev: Nope
At least ask Amanita to give us the full soundtrack of Botanicula + Samorost 2 as an extra .

I would rather buy this for a higher price on gog.com than anywhere else, Just because I support this site alone.

Luisfius: I think this happened before. The humble voxatron debut, or something. Not the first debut humblebundle, in any case.

Skipping this one, hah.
Ah, but no. Voxatron was still in development and had not been released for public sale before that point.

This.

GOG has every right to be pissed off about this, but if you pre-ordered this you shouldn't feel bad for paying more. After all, you must have decided that price was worth it or you wouldn't have pre-ordered.

I'm not sure that's true, I think Lexaloffle had been selling pre-orders.

I thought about buying Botanicula on GOG today just to spite the Humble Bundle team and Amanita. Then I realized that Amanita would still get a cut of the profits (and I won't have over $5 in my account until tomorrow) So, I'll buy some games from this weekend's GOG sale and if none of them are my cup of tea I'll buy some and gift them to someone else. That way GOG will get some more sales and Amanita won't see a dime.

Oh, c'mon, the difference was only a dollar. Not to sound arrogant or anything, but if anyone fell for that just to save a dollar, I'd say it's their own fault.

I grant you that it's not the most sympathethic tactics, but Amanita is not the only indie dev team using them. Almost Human offered a better deal for LoG in the Humble Store, too, and Daedalic apparantly didn't want GOG to sell multi-language versions of their game for their low price. So far, none of the new indie deals has been particularly generous and none of the indie devs have been particularly nice to GOG. It's a business and they're looking for their own interests just like everyone else. Whether the deals are actually working out for GOG or not is up to them to decide.

There is a way of buying Botanicula without giving Amanita any money, just make sure you give your entire payment to the charity.
For the price of 8 bucks you could get 4 games, movie and 3 complete soundtracks.

This is how the devs priced their title.

Apparently, GOG.com is not a good place for indie games, when indie devs treat it this way.

Judging by the sales of LoG, they are working very good.
