spinefarm: 6 days ago GamersGate added Botanicula for Pre-order

Gremmi: Ah, okay. I know it was heavily marketed as a "GOG exclusive" though - http://www.indiegamemag.com/gog-host-exclusive-drm-free-pre-order-of-botanicula/
And GOG know the same :) I guess Amanita have something else in mind. Strangely from this Steam gets the big piece of the pie :) They didn't have pre-order... they don't even sale the game yet... but yes you can get a steam key for it :D

And btw the guys at GamersGate should be more pissed by this stunt. Their version is even slimer :D

I almost forgot. everybody who pre-ordered Botanicula on GOG.com will get the full soundtrack, the art-book (not released yet) and Machinarium for free tomorrow. and of course you all have our eternal gratitude for supporting us:)

liquidsnakehpks: if you look at past history in the gog forums , this is not the first time hes jumping into the line of fire , without thinking

gameon: Maybe he cant help it. Perhaps he needs support rather than people having a go at him? Maybe he gets pissed off because he's mis-understood or something. I dont know the guy, but i'd like to think he has a place on these forums. He has been a valuable/active member on alot of threads since i've been active on the forums.
don't worry hes been here despite doing worse things than this , bans rarely happen here on the gog forums

According to various hints, Wolfire is actually getting the Steam keys very cheap, possibly even for free.

Awesome. Looks good on GOG and any of you that fell for their new pricing/catalogue scheme. Flying too close to the sun...

except GOG didn't know and seem to have got most of the HIB stuff for people here as an apology from amanita

It would be a smart move for GOG to do the same.
Knee-jerk emotional reactions notwithstanding:

1. Gog should consider revising its standard contract to include a time-limited fixed price agreement so a publisher cannot offer unfair advantages to other distributors.

2. Strictly from a marketing POV, this can only be disastrous for Amanita. They had a built in audience in anticipation, willing to pay full price (or close to full price.) Why would they essentially give the game away on launch day? Lady Gaga made the same mistake with Born This Way, priced at 99¢ on Amazon at launch. Her sales never recovered.

A moderator replied to Roman5's post with this:

"Here I was hoping we could discuss/debate this issue in a civil and mature manner, looks like I was wrong. It's never too late to voice your opinion, concerns if they are constructive however instead of being actively hostile about it."

I find that interesting since people were actually doing that yet the posts were being removed. Have they finally realised that sort of thing just doesn't work and makes them look even worse?
