I stand corrected , had a bit of a language problem there.
Carry on gents ;)
/Fenixp, lazy to log in, suddenly pops into this topic without any previous warning whatsoever and says: "I like to keep this handy for close encounters." Then he slowly backs off and, after reaching a safe distance, runs away

Siannah: "Hey V*****z, have you ever been mistaken for a man?"
"No. Have you?"

That's one of my favourite movie quotes ever.
Ahhh, I started a thread derailment. *again* Sorry! :)
I do have an urge to grab put on the set of films again, been a while since I've watched them all.
I don't have much else to say other than when this thread started out, the link to the developers site via Kotaku failed to load anything. I'm guessing it was a popular site for a while, but I have no idea why...
It's one of my favouritest films of all time. :P
Yes, it's clichéd as hell. Yes, some of the acting is pretty wooden. But it works. It works very well.
It was the only Sci-Fi/action film that until that point, and maybe a few years after, received an Academy Award (AKA Oscars) nomination for Best Actress. Sigourney Weaver .
I'm fairly sure they should have stopped with the trilogy though. A4 was......bad
I think they should have stopped after Aliens. I really hated Alien 3.
Aliens was awesome. The ones after that were... well, subpar.
Yeah, A3 was bad, but it was a good end for the trilogy. Resurrection was just....
Speaking of that series :
new Prequel by Ridley
It's Ridley...it *should* be good....or at least worth watching....maybe
Well unless either of the ships mentioned is the one that crashes on LV426, its not so much a prequel as it is another film set in the same universe. If it doesn't set up story threads that are resolved in chronologically later stories (why the LV426 ship crashed or the genesis of the aliens) then it won't really be directly connected. It's more likely to be a simple slasher movie on a space ship again.
For example Star Trek 3 & Star Trek 4 were definitely prequel/sequel because 4 used story threads established in the previous film but Star Trek Generations & Star Trek First Contact were 2 films set in the Star Trek universe because the stories were completely unrelated

I think that by 'prequel' they simply mean it's set at a time in which the alien species still existed. If it's going to involve humans at all then it's most likely going to be a Year One style retelling.
Still existed? Did they go extinct at some point?

In the forth film they had bugger all luck finding any. Despite centuries of searching.
Well I can't find a girlfriend, my copy of Myth 2: Soulblighter or those socks that I swear I only just put in the drawer the other day, doesn't mean they don't exist.
Oooh, nice (I hope!) didn't know of any sequel(prequel) or Ridley Scott's involvement.
A4 I didn't mind that much, despite it's flaws. I did find A3 (both 'edits' on the boxset) rather awful though.
