This computer I'm building now is made up of parts from another one that was badly damaged by UPS and spares from other computers lurking around here, so that what I have access to regarding hard drives is as follows:

1 - 128 GB SSD drive.
1 - 256 GB SSD drive.
2 - 1.0TB Western Digital 7200RPM 64Mb cache rotating hard drives.

What would you recommend doing with these choices??? Set up the two 1.0TB at RAID 0 as the boot drive and have the SSD drives for data? Set up the 256 GB SSD as the boot and have the others for data, maybe with the 2 1.0TB drives running in RAID 1 for redundancy??? Maybe have the 128GB SSD as the boot drive and that's ALL it's for, while using the others for data??

I'm not sure what my best options are here. But my motherboard appears to have 6 SATA internal inputs (actually has 8, 6 SATA II [3Gb/s] and 2 SATA III [6Gb/s]), so with my 2 optical drives that leaves enough internal SATA inputs for all of those drives if it seemed like a good idea. LOTS OF ROOM to as it is a full tower case. What would some of you experts out there do if these were your options???

Will you just be using one OS on the machine?

I'd probably put the 128GB SSD as the boot/OS drive. Then the 256GB SSD as an install drive for my most used programs. You can Raid 0 the two 1TB drives together, but if the SSDs will hold most of your data that needs fast load times, I wouldn't see much of a point.

Things like music and video files don't really benefit from a faster drive for playback purposes. If you are going to be installing a lot of regularly accessed data like games it would make more sense to use RAID though.

Of course if you do use RAID, make sure your stuff is backed up regularly as having two drives does increase the chance of something going wrong compared to just one.

128 GB = OS
256 GB = Games
2x1 GB = More games + Documents

It depends of your needs really.
I'd personally use the 128gB ssd as system drive and with the most used apps, the 256 for games, and the 2 1tB in RAID 0 for data

who stores porn on their locally... there's a whole inernet full of it out there.

Depending how many games you have installed and how big they are, go with the popular solution of 128 = OS 256 = Games.

Also consider what JudasIscariot said and consider a backup solution using at least one of the 1 TB drives.

Everyone says that until disaster strikes and they are without internet for an extended period of time. Don't take things for granted and always be prepared.

I also vote on using those two 1 TB discs to increase safety of your data. So you could set them in RAID1 or (preferably) just use one drive for data and the other for backup (and keep backup outside the case).

EDIT: what do you need 2 optical drives for?

Yeah, after following this thread, my thinking right now is to use the 128GB SSD as the root drive, use the 256GB SSD as the primary place to install and run games, and then set up my two 1.0TB in RAID 1, and use it for backups and maybe some GOG games that don't need the speed of an SSD.

But yeah, the plan is coming together now I think. 128-OS, root. 256-games, rotating hard drives backups.
I probably don't need two. But they're here so I was gonna plug 'em in. One is a Blue Ray Player and the other is a DVD Player/Burner. But I suppose the Blue Ray Player also plays and burns DVD's so that's all I would really need.

LOL, in fact I just found two more optical drives LOL!!! Anybody need an optical drive?? lol (Oh wait, these two are the old IDE optical drives. They've obviously been laying around here awhile.
