011284mm: If they were maybe GOG and Topware came to a verbal agreement to sell them.
Hmmm well a search came up with an interesting result of Topware Reloaded...

So the games were removed from one publisher, only to be returned from another i'm guessing...?

Cyraxpt: Well, i hate to be "that guy" but i doubt anything will happen, i don't see major (videogames) news websites picking this story (or popular forums like neogaf), besides, Topware Interactive is rather unknow to the majority of the people so the backlash won't be as big as if it was one of the big companies (Ea, Ubisoft, Activision, etc).

And, in some way, this is what greenlight did right, giving the indie developer the option (if voted) to publish the game by themselves, unfortunatly that also meant that all kinds of garbage become available on the Steam store...
Not only that, but this story is old news. It's over a year old..
Hey,I just realized now I can loathe the logo and the name of 'topware' without remorse. That logo always irked me and I always found the name ridiculously obnoxious (and if I recall correctly their 'gingle' is annoying ).
Take that, topware !

It's two days old

But if topware is now insolvent, they can probably only get a fraction of their earnings from the liquidation...
This reads like a Best Of Bethesda. Hey, some two-bit dive from Karlsruhe can screw starving devs over just like the big boys can!

I have to admit, Steam pulling the game at the dev's request is seriously a respectable move on Valve's part.

Also, lol, German courts, lol.

rtcvb32: Hmmm GoG's Game listing from TopWare is interesting... I thought the two worlds games were removed...
I don't get what you are talking about. I can still see the 12 games Topware has here just fine.
If you are talking about a possible removal of any Two Worlds game in the past, nope, that never happened.

Glancing at the removed games list, i see it was the Gothic Series i was thinking of

joriandrake: The problem is with Topware, not the games they published. Septerra Core was made by Valkyrie, others weren't made by Topware either, some games were also published by multiple companies and not just by Topware, your idea to "ban" Topware published games will not help anyone, rather it will hurt developers.

If you want to make a difference I rather suggest you to contact the developers of games yet to be released if you know the team plans to choose Topware as publisher, and express your reason for disagreeing with it, politely asking to change to an other company.
The problem is we now have to consider the very real possibility that regardless of us buying the game, the dev will not see a cent. So even if a game is by, say, Valkyrie, I can't be sure my money isn't being syphoned away by Topware; therefore I won't buy. The way I see it, the dev is fucked anyway with a publisher like that, might as well get the publisher out of business.
I'm speechless. This is not a publisher, this is a highwayman. Basically this publisher is showing very criminal behavior and the people working there should be made personally responsible. That they also drag a developer down is even more despicable. I wish I could do something against this publisher.

No, it's not. It was originally posted in February of last year. The article is 2 days old though.

I think the only "new" info might be about the oral contract. I knew of this story for quite a long time, but that's mainly because I like the game and wondered why it got pulled off of Steam.

Seems like the game was decent enough too.

Crosmando: I mean how many years has it been since TopWare have even published a game?
Iron Sky: Invasion 2 years ago and Raven's Cry will be released next week.
Before putting Topware in the hangman's noose of public opinion, any verification of the court cases and such? This is a bit one-sided for now, and retractions are all-but-pointless once the damage is done.

WE DON'T CARE! BURN THE WITCH !!!! :o)

Joke aside, that's also why I would like this issue was brought up so Topware can make a public response about this case instead of letting doubts floating around, that's basic PR common sense...
