ok so games with controller support that arent strategy titles on steam and possibly gog.

all that comes to mind are action adventures the ones ive played havent all been bundled and if they were it wasnt in many bundles, but i loved darksiders 1 and 2 which arent bundled much but almost constantly discounted somewhere

overlord 1 & 2 are damn funny and easy to play too and overlord 1 is even here on gog

if you wanna get him used to not such great graphics then maybe mortal kombat kollection is worth a shot the first 3 old school MK games in one game

brütal legend is also lots of fun but the controller port isnt the best so if he doesnt mind switching button setup for a certain quest he could try it but he should never ever try it with keyboard only, thats just pure pain

i could name a couple more but the ones i could name are hardly price appropriate for starters and well cant say much about platformers as im not playing many of them but alien spidy would come to mind or party of sin
I'd recommend throwing him into the middle of simple, fun games. A gamer should be able to pick up the keys fast from any device. Just tell him to keep his fingers on wasd, shift/ctrl, thumb on space, and practice! Possibly Team Fortress 2 would be good. He'll figure it all out if he's having fun. :>

as the edit says: sticking to controller support for now, but cheers!
Some of these may have been mentioned, I am low on coffee and forgot while making this list what everyone else had said. Yeesh.
Some of these are also console games, so he may have played them, but most that are found on both are ones I find better on pc.
The Witcher series of course, and you definitely should use it as a bridge to ease him over to GOG. :)
Bastion
Portal / Portal 2
Assassin's Creed games
Batman Arkham Asylum / Arkham City
Borderlands 2
Dust: An Elysian Tale
Fallout: New Vegas
Mass Effect series
Skyrim
Pinball Arcade
Pinball FX2
Spelunky
Strike Suit Zero
Jade Empire
Fez
Miasmata (I believe this is gamepad friendly, but you may want to check first if you consider this one... my memory rules)

akhliber: Strike Suit Zero
Jade Empire
I think these two might be good choices actually! :)

It's just that good. :P
Sometimes people have no idea, and cannot appreciate the tiny things.

I'm just talking shit to put out a code for Alpha Centauri.

Have fun, whoever gets it, a good game:

Edit to remove code

Just a salute to thread :-)

Edit: Time, time, time, see what's become of me... Seasons change with the scenery... (S&G, not me.)

Steam and controller support have really made the gap rather small when playing. If you mean how to get him more into traditional PC game playstyles like mouse aim or RTS, I would say just tell him to have patience. It takes a long time to get used to a whole new control method, but eventually it becomes like second-nature. He just has to have the patience to stick with it.
I believe some Devil May Cry ports (4?) included stuff like turbo mode that the consoles were too shitty to run. Could that be the boon you're looking for?

Other than that, Deus Ex was on PS2. Look for a gamepad compatibility mod or something, and put him at it. And if he doesn't like it, just cut all ties to him. Someone who doesn't like DX isn't worth the time.

Sachys: Edit: oh, i forgot, obviously keyboard and mouse are alien to him, so controller compatible games (doesnt matter the service) are best! :)
I'd say lure him in with an Assasin's Creed game. Maybe the first one that's here on GOG.
You can play it with a controller, it has a console-like menu and it's a very nice and easy game.
And once you start playing with a keyboard you''ll throw your controller out of the window......
It's so much easier with the keyboard.
Show them a sale compared to the 'evergreen' prices. That's what got me to jump.

Yet PC (regardless of OS) is the one platform with the highest possibilities to use a brand-new machine to play decades-old games (that haven't been officially re-released for the current "generation").
