...or "do you ever think before you talk?" I seriously don't get how this guy still gets money to develop anything. Overpromise and underdeliver has been his modus operandi for as long as I can remember, but at least in his Bullfrog days his fellow dev team was able to restrain him and actually make genuinely good games. These days on his own? Not so much.
You gotta love the last line of the article:
He's certainly not wrong, but he might be the wrong person to be making the point.

"Crowdfunding can be "very destructive to the final quality of a game," he said in a recent interview, because it encourages developers to make wild promises that they ultimately can't deliver."

Don't blame others, especially your own supporters and founders/backers who throw money at you for your own lies and broken promises.

Agreed, joriandrake. That was rather brazen.
If someone sends me $1 million, I'll make them the awesomeest Batman game EVA!!!!

Once upon a time, a long long time ago I respected this guy, nevermore.

He became the person who once was well known for good games, and now tries to profit off this old fame as a slacker.

did he say that he Is going to make the best kickstarter in the world or the solar system, like he does with the games?
I'm not really familiar with any other individual game designers, frankly not even Molyneux as I never played any of his games before Black & White (at least not consciously), but is there even a single game designer out there that is worthy of such praise? Developing a game is almost always a team effort and it strikes me as very arrogant to even assume that one single person could be credited for so much, even if that person was responsible for taking the important decisions.

Yes exactly. I even think it's particularly true in videogames. Because even a great concept can (really easily) be a completely crappy experience because of "details" : controls not responsive, clunky interface, bad camera angles and so on. The interactive nature opens so much more aspects than any movie can.
Peter Molyneux is such a hack.
I really can't blame Godus backers from being upset. What I've hear people pretty much expected modern Populous, and that was something that was pretty much promised, but they ended up having a mobile game that has more in common witn Simpsosn Tapped Out.

Now. don't get me wrong, I play Tapped Out myself, but I don't pay for it and I'd be pretty disappointed myself if I was promised Populous and all I got would be Tapped Out.
Did he just blame kickstarter's rules for getting the money on his lies? Balls. Big ones.
There's actually F2P Android and iOS version of Godus released. Apparently the only big difference between them is that in PC you get the game currencey by doing the tasks, in F2P version you buy them with cash.

As I see it, he prefers to blame everyone and anything except himself. If he actually acknowledges his own fault at something, you usually see it followed by a "but they..." finger pointing
Isn't it weird how guys like Molyneux keep getting work despite constantly making shlock, yet there's tons of indies out there making great games and getting absolutely no press? Celebrity. It's a strange thing.
