Given that there is actually a game with regional pricing now, but no word from GOG has anyone worked this out?

What combination of the following is being used?

- IP Address
- Account details
- Credit Card details
Hm. Since GOG is such a nice and close community, I kinda suspect gifting and trading would make regional pricing kinda meaningless.

Or shouldnt we all make more Russian friends? ;)

Or maybe GOG can do what Amazon does... turn a blind eye *cough*
I used to have a Russian friend in primary school. I wonder if I still have his number around here somewhere.

IP only. For the record, AoW3 is 16.99 for me.

I'm really interested in this because all three are in different zones for me. Would I even be able to purchase anything? Steam refuses me service based on these three values not being the same.

You must really hate GOG for their regional price! :)

My credit card doesn't provides address details. So that can't be it I guess. Anyway so far only AOW3 is regionally priced and I wouldn't have bought it before being under $5 and with all possible DLCs included anyway.

Financially, I don't care and neither should you. You're always welcome in Russia. Ethically, no shit I'm alarmed. To me, regional pricing is a step away from regional localization. Origin was released three years ago, and it still doesn't have English.

It provides the name and location of the issuer, though.

What if in the mean time I move (or travel to a different country)? And I still want to use my old CC. It would be complete crap. And besides if you really want to "cheat", you can create a new Paypal account, with a Russian address.
I remember the days I couldn't buy anything at steam because the country I was at did not match the address of my paypal account. Ah, that was fun.

Well yes, it would be. When people complain about being "denied service" on GOG because GOG is based in Cyprus, I kind of sympathize, but only kind of, because I know well enough how it feels to be denied service by just about everyone because they assume I'm a fraudster. GOG doesn't use IINs / paypal locations, though, just the IP.
