and yeah as far as I know the German's had planned to burn Paris but were kind of in a hurry to pack up their shit and get out so they didn't really pull it off.

I kind of feel sorry for the French. When you actually look at their entire military history, they actually have a decent track record and the uncanny habit of scaring the living hell out of the rest of Europe. But their awkward habit of losing wars even after numerous victorious battles has led to this unjustified reputation.

I think they are very lucky to have this reputation despite their brutal imperialist history. I'm sure the guys in Haiti,Algeria and various others have different feelings.

I didn't realise the poles had it this bad. It's similar to what the Koreans had to live through with the Japanese, but that lasted for centuries.

First things the Japanese would do when they invaded Korea was to burn down all the palaces and temples and any other sign of Korean culture.
