It is on sale for $2.50 US today & I'm thinking about picking it up.... problem is that I hate Star Wars & am not a huge fan of Bioware (although I have only played 3 of there games.... MDK2 *which I love*, Jade Empire *which I liked* & Mass Effect *which bored me to tears*)... so where do you think this will fall on the spectrum for me know my likes & dislikes?
I bought it on a sale a few months ago, haven't played much of it, but I was kind of disappointed with it considering just how much praise it has gotten.

Can't say much about the writing as I haven't gotten very far, but it is very clearly a console port, and not a particularly good one at that. The controls and UI are very awkward, and for some reason, if you've killed 3 people and want to loot them, you have to do it in the order you killed them, going through it in your desired order does not work, as the option to loot the others does not appear until you've looted the first corpse.

Such strange quirks kind of killed my interest in that, especially since I'm not that much of a Star Wars fan either.

I wouldn't say you would go wrong with it for 2.50 though, even though it's closest comparison would be Mass Effect. I think it might be a bit more action oriented than ME, but a lot clunkier in it's controls.

If you hate Star Wars, you are not a fan of BioWare and you thought Mass Effect bored you to tears then move along, nothing to see here.

It's one of the best Star Wars games ever made but then you hate Star Wars...

I'm not particularly endeared to either Star Wars or Bioware, but I enjoyed KotOR tremendously. It's very similar in format to Jade Empire (though less actiony as it's based on d20 rules), but I think it's a bit better. Normally, I would urge RPG fans to grab it for $2.50.

But if Bioware made a critically-acclaimed smash hit RPG using the Sailor Moon license, I wouldn't play it. I'm sure it'd be lovely, but I simply don't want to play a Sailor Moon game, because I hate Sailor Moon. If that's how you feel about Star Wars, you probably shouldn't bother.
I don't really like Star Wars but I still liked it... I do like Bioware RPGs though.

It's a standard Bioware RPG. 4-5 different linear zones you can do in your chosen order, bland but well presented story, good characters but somewhat flat dialogue. KotOR2 was a more interesting game to me, but then I prefer Black Isle/Obsidian's writing style.
Loved the KOTOR games.

Not brilliant by todays standards, but still very nice, solid games.

Endings are quite lacklustre though...
(I really do wish Developers put more effort in the writing of the games ending. A lot of people may not reach that point, but trust me the ones that do, should be rewarded, (and you may make them a convert)
This is especially the case with games that involve a choice/morality system, (story should ACTUALLY CHANGE!! Else its pretty pointless...)
a friend of mine haven't seen the star wars movies at all (yes, they exist) and loved kotor. if you like bioware rpgs then I guess you'll like this one.

my opinion? a great game.

You do get two distinct endings with Kotor. Vanilla Kotor2 of course famously never had an ending.
It fits probably nicely somewhere between Jade Empire and Mass Effect, be it level design, story, characters or dialogue.
I enjoyed Star Wars (at least the first trilogy) but never would have considered myself a fan of the universe. But It is a good RPG classic and a steal for 2.50

I know you'd buy it if it's modable. Don't deny it, nobody would believe you.

Interface is definitely clunkier, but I wouldn't call it "more action oriented". Hell, the combat is basically turn based.
KOTOR is one of the best RPGs.
I really enjoyed it.

Jade Empire is much like it, and it doesn't really feel like Star Wars since it's so far back in the timeline. I'd say definitely try it, especially for that price.
Well can you use a gamepad? If you can I would be much more inclined to purchase it.

It's possible. Xbox designed gamepads work better.
It's without any doubt the greatest Star Wars RPG ever made.
