i downloaded my copy of the witcher 2, and it finished, but where is my game?
Check My Documents for the GOG.com Downloads folder, your downloaded games and extras will be there.

Run it?!
Yeah you have to run the Setup/Installer. All the GOG Downloader does is download.

Which admittedly is a bit counterintuitive, what with the name GOG Downloader and all. Wait. That's not counterintuitive at all!
I wonder if old timers will post questions about where the downloaded files are when galaxy is released? Assuming it also can and by default install games after download. ;)

Well, I sure as hell hope that it can download and save the actual installers, given that it will replace the current downloader.

Me too. Though it would be interesting to see the reactions here if it have default setting like steam where it download, install and delete the install files.
In the downloader, to the right of the download, is there a small "magnifying glass'?

Click that and it will open the download folder for you.

I don't mind that as the default setting, as long as it can be easily changed.

Agreed. But people here are probably going to get confused by it.

Some, probably. On the other hand, most of GOG's customers would probably prefer a Steam-like functionality regarding installation, so it would make some sense to have that as the default setting.
For what it's worth, the downloader saves my files in c:\gog.com and clicking the magnifying glass opens My Documents - which does not contain the downloads. I don't think I changed the download folder in Settings, but regardless, the magnifying glass opens the wrong location for me. This might explain the confusion for some folks.

Edit: typo
