I'm on my parents' computer for the holidays and Windows 7 is constantly nagging me about running out of disk space. I know the simple solution is to move files from the relevant disk station, but it's not so easy when all it holds is "Recovery".

I assume there is one "service" running in the background responsible for the incessant nagging. If so, what is it called and can it be turned off?
If not, any other options?

Whatever kind of porn your folks like to watch, you don't want that. Delete the "My new cake recipes" and "Some Tax forms" folders first.

Aaaaand you+re done.

I guess you missed that part when I wrote that the one file ("Recovery") on the entire station can't be deleted?

Yeah, after I came to the conclusion that I can't help you (sorry), my brain discarted that information and built a fantasy world around it where everything is jam and pudding.

See here. The question is about Windows 8, but the registry key that governs this is at the same location in Windows 7.
